You must be a current member to register for any programs. If expired, please make sure to renew your membership BEFORE registration day.

RegistrationPhone and walk-in registration will remain open weekdays, 9:00am - 4:00pm, and online registration is open 24 hours, until programs are full. Registration is complete only when the registrar confirms your request.

Program FeesFees for Between Friends Adventurers programs are due at the time of registration. Cash, cheque, and credit card payments, or a fee assistance form must be submitted within five (5) business days or registration will be cancelled.

Participants can register for a maximum of: • Three (3) sessions of Day Trippers • Two (2) 1-day trips, Two 3-day trips, Two 4-day trips, and One 5-day trip

Fee Assistance and SubsidyBetween Friends does its best to ensure that every member with a wish to attend programs is granted the opportunity. In order to remain accessible, we subsidize all programs for all participants.

To further ensure that programs are available to all, Between Friends offers the option to apply for additional fee assistance, and to arrange for payment plans.

Fee assistance is available for two (2) programs per session. To apply, please register for your program(s) of choice over the phone, or in person, and indicate the need for fee assistance. Application forms will be provided and must be completed and returned to the main office within five (5) business days. For more information please contact Heather O’Bray, Operations Assistant at 403 930 3853.

Non Sufficient Funds (NSF) PolicyA charge of $45.00 applies for NSF cheques. The issuer will be given 24 hours to make payment by VISA, MasterCard, money order, certified cheque, or cash; otherwise registration will be forfeited.

Cancellation PolicyTo cancel registration you must call 403 508 0110. A 15% fee will apply to all cancellations. Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the start of a program will forfeit a refund.

Refunds will be provided only when vacancies can be filled, and the office is notified of the cancellation.

If a program is cancelled due to low registration, you may transfer to another program if space is available, or receive a full refund. We will make every effort to contact you prior to the start date of the program if cancellation is necessary.

In an effort to create awareness about the true cost of operating some Between Friends programs, please see the chart below. It is important to us that our programs remain financially accessible, to ensure those who want to participate can do so.

Please Note: The true cost calculations include both the direct and indirect costs to Between Friends, including but not limited to: facility rentals, program supplies, transportation, staffing/payroll, insurance, personnel training, recognition, etc.


Between Friends Adventurers programs are for members 18 years and older who are looking for recreational activities, relaxation, and challenge-oriented experiences, that allow opportunities to expand social circles and reconnect with old friends. Between Friends Adventurers has two streams: Day Trippers and Vacationers.

Day Trippers

Day Trippers is the next step after Between Friends Camp Bonaventure. Participants ages 18 to 24 can register in four 1-week sessions during the month of August. Day Trippers sessions can include swim days, field trips, boating, and themed day activities. Schedules will be released closer to program start date.

• Meet at Riveredge Park – 1215 50 Ave SW • Participate in 1-week sessions: Monday to Friday | 9:00am – 4:00pm • Can register for a maximum of 3 weeks

Day Trippers have an optional campfire as part of their 1-week camp schedule. Participants wanting to attend the campfire will attend camp on Wednesday from 9:00am – 4:00pm and will be provided with a dinner of the group’s choosing followed by a campfire at 7:30pm. As this is the next evolution of Between Friends Camp Bonaventure, Day Trippers will get to choose what their campfire experience looks like, which could include: traditional campfire, board games, karaoke, or something else of their choosing.

Vacationers

Vacationers offers the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing break from the usual, or an adventurous getaway. Groups of eight to 10 participants will go on excursions that range from rustic camping overnights to city tours. The participant to staff ratio is a minimum of 1:3. If required, aides are welcome to attend. All trips are wheelchair accessible.

All trips (except Day Trips) have a standard 9:00am drop off and 4:00pm pick up. Information regarding pick up and drop off locations and times for all trips will be provided at least two weeks prior to the trip date.

Many activities and campgrounds are located in the wilderness. Groups will always maintain a safe and respectful distance from any wildlife. Activities are subject to change due to inclement weather.

Day TripsDay trips are typically between 5-8 hours in duration. A schedule of activities will be provided two weeks before the trip. Participants can register for a maximum of a two day trips.

Spa Day | $125 Tuesday, June 11 | Calgary Fancy a day of pampering at the MC College Salon? Get a new hair-do, a nice manicure and

a fresh face of make-up before heading out for lunch at Sky 360º atop the Calgary Tower.

Dinner Theatre: Jubilations | $125 Thursday, June 13 | Calgary Enjoy an original three-act musical comedy combined with a delicious four-course meal in

a totally unique way at Jubilations. Join in a celebration of the wonderful music of ABBA, and other classic bands of the era, as a tale of love lost, love found, and love rediscovered is told in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

Rafting | $150 Thursday, July 4 | Cochrane Take a splash in the river as we go whitewater rafting with Easter Seals Camp Horizon.

Please Note: Participants must have upper body strength for rafting.

Rodeo Round-Up | $125 Monday, July 8 | Calgary The Calgary Stampede Rodeo features the world’s best rodeo athletes and the finest

livestock. Every afternoon at 1:15pm, competitors face off in a furious action-packed display of skill and grit. Spend the afternoon enjoying the excitement of the rodeo!

Grandstand Night | $125 Wednesday, July 10 | Calgary Spend the evening at the “Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth!” Watch performances from the

Young Canadians, world class acrobats, extreme athletes, and Alberta Ballet, as they shine at this year’s Grandstand Show!

Calgary Zoo | $100 Saturday, July 27 | Calgary Spend an afternoon with the animals! The day will be split helping zoo staff prepare

yummy treats and fun toys for the animals, followed by exploring all that the zoo has to offer. It’s sure to be a wild day!


Studio Bell | $100 Tuesday, August 13 | Calgary Come and explore five floors of interactive exhibits that will take you on a journey through

the sights, sounds, and stories of the music industry in Canada. Includes a guided tour through Studio Bell’s top 10 greatest hits, amazing artifacts like Elton John’s song writing piano, and awe-striking architectural highlights.

Dinner Theatre: Stage West | $125 Wednesday, August 14 | Calgary Back by popular demand, Stage West presents Legends of Country! An expedition through

the music of the working class from the ‘60s to the 2000s – with steel guitars, country fiddles, and vocal twang. Come take a ride with the legends of country music! Includes a dinner buffet with over 120 items.

3 Day & 2 Night TripsHow about a full weekend getaway? Trips take place from Friday to Sunday. A schedule of activities and accommodation information will be provided two weeks before the trip. Participants can register for a maximum of two 3-day & 2 night trips.

Waterton National Park | $655 June 14 – June 16 | Accessible Campground | Waterton Tour beautiful alpine lakes and interpretive hikes and trails. Join us as we travel up Red

Rock Canyon, take a cruise on the M.V. International, visit waterfalls, and more. We will also stop at Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump on our way out to Waterton!

Drumheller | $685 June 21 – June 23 | Accessible Hotel | Drumheller Visit Drumheller’s top tourist attractions in the heart of the Alberta Badlands. We’ll visit

the world famous Royal Tyrrell Museum, the Hoodoos, and the Cactus Coulee Fun Park. A whole weekend away means time for window shopping in Drumheller’s quaint town shops!

Sylvan Lake | $655 July 5 – July 7 | Accessible Campground | Sylvan Lake Enjoy the sights and sounds of one of Canada’s ten best beaches! Make a splash or relax on

the sandy lakeshore. Try your hand at mini golf or visit the movie theatre. We’ll end the days with great fun around the campfire.


Camp URSA | $685 July 12 – July 14 | Accessible Lodge | Cochrane Want a relaxing getaway? Then Camp URSA is for you! Located on 18 acres, you can spend

your time in the cabin, or explore the wilderness. Spend a day in Cochrane doing some fun activities and even learn a new skill or two!

Staycation | $685 July 19 – July 21 | Accessible Hotel | Calgary It’s time to explore everything that Calgary has to offer in one jammed packed weekend!

We will visit places like the Calgary Tower, Heritage Park, Calaway Park, or take in a play during Shakespeare by the Bow.

Canmore | $655 August 9 – August 11 | Accessible Campground | Canmore Enjoy everything this mountain town has to offer. the group will choose to relax and stroll

the streets of downtown Canmore and soak in the hot springs, and/or hit the trails and take in the majestic views.

4 Day & 3 Night TripsTrips take place Monday to Thursday or Thursday to Sunday (Except Canada Day in Edmonton). A schedule of activities and accommodation information will be provided two weeks before the trip. Participants can register for a maximum of two 4 day & 3 night trips.

Camp L.G. Barnes at Gull Lake | $865 June 17 – June 20 | Accessible Lodge | Near Bently, AB Camp L.G. Barnes is a year-round lakeside facility that provides visitors with a wide range

of activities to enhance their quality of life. It is situated on the southwestern shores of Gull Lake. Enjoy activities like boating, mobi-chair & mat (a floating wheelchair!) on the water, or Clipper Cycling (two-seater adapted bicycle), karaoke, games and crafts, plus so much more!

Canada Day in Edmonton | $895 June 29 – July 2 | Accessible Hotel | Edmonton Spend the weekend in the provincial capital! We’ll check out some fun Canada Day

activities and other attractions around the city. Of course we’ll visit West Edmonton Mall for the Galaxyland amusement park or the World Waterpark wave pool and slides. Plus do some shopping!


Mountain Escape: Golden, BC | $920 July 15 – July 18 | Accessible Hotel | Golden, BC Let’s get out of Alberta! Explore all that Golden has to offer – take in the sights like the

world’s largest hand paddle/oar, art galleries, or the beautiful scenery on walking trails. Visit the Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch or the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre.

Camp URSA | $895 August 5 – August 8 | Accessible Lodge | Cochrane Want a relaxing getaway? Then Camp URSA is for you! Located on 18 acres, you can

spend your time in the cabin or explore the wilderness. We are excited to offer a one day experience with Rocky Mountain Adaptive which will provide our group the opportunity to participate in a mountain sport or recreation activity geared towards individuals of all abilities. Please Note: Activity will be chosen closer to date of the trip.

5 Day & 4 Night TripsTrips take place Monday to Friday. A schedule of activities and accommodation information will be provided two weeks before the trip. Participants can register for a maximum of one 5 days & 4 nights trip.

Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park | $1090 June 24 – June 28 | Accessible Comfort Campground | Lac La Biche, AB Calling all outdoor enthusiasts! Join us as we trek up to Sir Winston Churchill Provincial

Park. With plenty of stops along the way, including an extended stop in Edmonton as we venture north. The park is renowned for its birding, old-growth forests, and has plenty of activities and interpretive programs for the group to choose from. Other activities may include visiting the Lac Le Biche Mission Historical Site, the Regional Museum, dining at a popular restaurant, bowling, and more!

Edmonton | $1090 July 29 – August 2 | Accessible Hotel | Edmonton, AB If a weekend in Edmonton is not enough for you, how about 5 days and 4 nights? We will

visit West Edmonton Mall, plus other activities and attractions will be selected by the group. Choose from things like museums, escape rooms, shopping, bowling, movies and much more!


Volunteer With Us

Between Friends Adventurers | Day Trippers

To volunteer with Between Friends Adventurers | Day Trippers, you must be 18 years or older. Day Trippers takes place at Riveredge Park (1215 50 Ave SW) from July 29 to August 23, 2019. As a volunteer, you will be asked to help with supervision, support, creating friendships, and assisting our participants in a variety of activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, and day trips. Volunteers are required to actively participate in all activities, and be positive role models. We require our volunteers to commit to a minimum of 5 days, in the month of August. There is a mandatory volunteer training session for all volunteers on Friday, June 28, 2019.
