Issue THREE IUB WWF and Environment Protection De- partment celebrate World Environment Day Finding An Agent That’s Right For You The Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Baha- walpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar visit- ed the IUB hostels the other night to check the security and other positions including the availability of medical care, food stuff and transport and directed to depute nurses in the girls hostels round the clock to meet any emergency and ordered to ensure all possible medical facilities at the campus and hostels for early and better treatment of students at any time. He visited, Aysha, Fatima, Khadee- ja, Amna, Umer and Ali Halls during his surprise visit besides checking the Medical Centre of the Baghdad-ul-Jadid Campus, Islamia University, Bahawalpur where he directed the deputed medical staff to remain vigilant to provide health facilities in the hot weather. Dr. Razia Musarrat Coordinator of the Project, Dean Faculty of Arts, Chairperson Department of Political Science & Gender Studies, IUB He ordered to further beef-up the security measures at and around the hostels especial- ly of the girls hostels for safety and security measures. He met with the students and Wardens of the hostels and discussed related issues and assured complete cooperation and better conditions of security, food, medical and transport. He informed them that he was used to pay surprise visits of the campus and hostels to check the conditions as it was his responsibility to keep check and ensure all possible facilities for them. The Vice- Chancellor expressed satisfaction over the overall conditions and appreciated the rele- vant staff of performing responsibly. The students appreciated the Vice-Chancellor’s visit and assurance for all possible facilities. The energy saving plan will also be implemented on street lights and mini- mum street lights will be kept on at night and the use of unnecessary electric appliances will be avoided. Moreover all the canteens and food points will be closed till 11-00 pm. Honorable Vice Chancellor visited hostels The Vice-Chancellor, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar has underlined the need to ensure pollution free environment for the protection of human beings and better growth of crops and all living elements as polluted atmosphere is badly harming our life.He was addressing at a ceremony held at the Islamia University, Bahawalpur in connection with the World Environment Day. He said that it was our joint responsibility to provide better and polluted free environment to the young gen- eration which was highly important for liv- ing as we could easily assess the quality of food and fruit developed under natural envi- ronment as compared to the genetically pro- cessed foods and fruit that that only help the body needs but not as healthy as naturally required so we had to adopt strict measures to control pollution to keep environment healthy. The DCO, Bahawalpur, Imran Sikander in his address said that the wastage of water, energy and natural resources besides cutting the trees were the major cause of destruction and natural calamity so we had to find effective ways to meet the environmental challenges to protect human beings, livestock and wild- life as well as we had to save trees which were also a good source to control floods and we had to form a policy in this regard to save environment from pollution. The Pro- gramme Manager, WWF, Asad Imran in his address urged to change our general attitude and should start to save natural resources as it had been noticed we unnecessarily waste much water on personal and domestic pur- pose so we had to review our approach in this regard. The Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Baha-

The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is really a remarkable step of the Punjab govern-

ment for the financial support of the talented and deserving students and a large number of

students of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur have also been taking complete benefit of it.

This was remarked by the Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muham-

mad Mukhtar while talking to the visiting delegation of the PEEF here today at Islamia

University, Bahawalpur. He appreciated the motives of the PEEF which had been providing

essential financial assistance to the talented and deserving students for running their studies

as well as providing them the career guideline besides supporting them for Entrepreneurship

for small scale business. He said that it was highly appreciable that PEEF had taken initia-

tive in the right direction to enable talented students to continue and complete studies de-

spite financial problems. Earlier, a training session was also held at the Abbasia Campus,

Islamia University, Bahawalpur in this connection for Entrepreneurship which was arranged

by the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund with the collaboration of the America based

organization of the overseas Pakistanis (OPEN). The Chairperson, American School and

Colleges, Mst. Aysha Hamid said that the basic purpose of this training session was to en-

courage the youngsters and to provide them better guideline towards career building and to

promote new ideas through this forum to enable them to think over on different lines and try

to be the job providers rather to be satisfied by getting any job.

An International Qirat Conference will soon

be conducted at Islamia University, Bahawal-

pur in which world known Qaris from all over

the world will participate. This was disclosed

by the Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Baha-

walpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar during

a meeting with the visiting Qari from Egypt,

Qari Muhammad Tallah El-Azhri here today at

his office. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar wel-

comed the guest and appreciated his visit to

the university to provide people and students

to hear the Qirat of Holy Quran from the stu-

dent of the Jamia Al-Azhar, Egypt. He said

that efforts were underway to implement the

joint projects with Jamia Al-Azhar which

would be quite beneficiary for the students

eager to learning Qirat.

The Pakistan and Turkey have cordial

and brotherly relations since long and as

being historical and religious link both

the countries have always enjoyed

friendly ties and the people of Pakistan

are highly grateful of Turkish support in

hard times at every front and forum

which will always remained alive in the

hearts of the Pakistanis. This was stated

Mukhtar at a farewell ceremony hosted

in the honour of the outgoing Chairman

of the Turkish Rumi Forum, Harun

Koken. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar paid

The exhibition of a stylishly designed and com-

piled Holy Quran of 10 mond weight was started

here today at Press-Club, Bahawalpur which will

continue till Thursday, June, 13 and later this

Holy Quran will be put on display at Islamia

University, Bahawalpur for two days in which girl

and boy students. This Holy Quran has been com-

posed by a well known Calligrapher of the area,

Sajid Malik from Ahmedpur East. The Vice-

Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, ex-

pressed great pleasure over the hard effort of the

Calligrapher and said, the Holy Quran is the best

source of inspiration and guidance.

The 3 day performing art festival under the

Dramatic Club, Islamia University, Baha-

walpur was concluded here in with the stu-

dents of different departments participated

actively and performed remarkably. The

basic purpose of this drama festival was to

provide healthy entertainment to the stu-

dents, to explore their talent and to generate

funds for the financial support of the deserv-

ing students as 50% income from this festi-

val will be used to meet the academic needs

of the talented students, this was disclosed

by the Director, IUB Dramatic Club, Prof.

Dr. Abdul Wajid Khan at the concluding

ceremony. A number of plays, skits, mimes,

tableu, milli naghmay and different variety

programmes were presented in the festival

which received a big hand from the packed

house. Murad Manzil Kay Pagal, Andhon ki

Shadi besides Touba, Khaka and Piyar ka

Punjnama based on Ishfaq Ahmed’s Novel

were highly appreciated by the audience as

well as the Mimes, Aman kay Bunjaray and

Hope. The Deasn, Faculty of Science, Prof.

Dr. Sh. Aftab Ahmed presided over the

concluding ceremony while the Executive

member, International Status for peace and

protection, Dr. Adrees Ahmed Aftab was

the chief guest on the occasion. The Direc-

torate of the Students Affairs, and the Sen-

ior Tutors Office, Islamia University, Baha-

walpur had arranged this festival which was

largely attended by the faculty members,

students, notables of the city and families of

the staff and students.

A joint meeting of the Faculty Deans, Head of Departments and Administrative and Prin-

cipal Officers of the Govt. Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur and the Islamia

University, Bahawalpur was held here today to review different issues of both the city

universities including the annual budget for the fiscal year, 2013-14. The Vice-Chancellor,

IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Chaired the meeting and

termed this first joint meeting quite effec-

tive to carry out different schemes and plans

for the improvement of the newly set-up

Farewell in honor of outgoing Rumi Forum Chairman

glowing tributes to Harun Koken Dr. Muham-

mad Mukhtar paid glowing tributes to Harun

Koken and termed his services for promoting

ties between Pakistan and Turkey highly remark-

able and appreciable which would never be for-

gotten. He said that Turkish support for the uplift

of Pakistan in different fields were the true re-

flection of good friendship between two coun-

tries and Harun Koken had also played an im-

portant role in this regard by extending complete

support in the field of education and research

under the students exchange programme to pro-

mote the Jalal-ud-Din Rumi and our national

poet, Allama Iqbal’s philosophy for better hu-

man beings and healthy society. The Vice-

Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur

remarked that Turkey was the custodian of

Islamic civilization and historical religious

background which automatically brought us

more close and we could gain much

knowledge and guidance for progress and

development in different fields including

education from brotherly country, Turkey as

the Rumi Forum, Turkey had shown deep

interest in mutual programmes for the pro-

motion of education.
