The future belongs to thosewho prepare for it today .
JUNIOR HIGH
Malcolm X.
While we did internalise your concerns, we made sure that students and staffstrictly adhered to the Covid-19 guidelines and protocols presented to schoolsby the government. Because of this observation, our students have expressedtheir satisfaction about our schooling environment and they feel moreconfident and comfortable. I would like to sincerely thank you the parents for exuding confidence in ourschool and not hesitating to bring your children to school. As Bernard Beckett(A famous New Zealand Writer) said, “Human spirit is the ability to face theuncertainty of the future with curiosity and optimism. It is the belief thatproblems can be solved, differences resolved. It is a type of confidence. And it is fragile. It can be blackened by fear and superstition.” It isbecause of this confidence that enabled our Year 11 students to physically sit fortheir final IGCSE Examinations and the rest of the student carry on with theteaching and learning process. As the students finish their mid-term tests, I wish them all the best and arestful, constructive and productive half-term break. Take time to impartpositive values and teachings to your children so that they can grow to beresponsible, dependable and respectful citizens of the global village. In the seaof modern technology, uncensored media and a vibrant social mediaphenomenon, it is unbelievingly easy for our children to sink into this vast anddeep sea and if this happens, it is always devastating to us as parents. It istherefore our duty as guardian angels to guide and protect our dear children. And alas! They will thank us later. As Hodding Carter said “There are only twolasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, theother, wings.” Finally, I wish you all the best in your daily undertakings and may God blessyou all abundantly.Kind Regards,Head of School – Junior High
Dear Parent/Guardian,It is my sincere expectation that you are healthy andkeeping safe in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. Wehave come to the end of the first half of this term. I am gladto report that despite the many apprehensions everyone ofus had regarding physical reopening of the school, teachingand learning has progressed smoothly with no incidencesregarding the health and safety of our dear students.

NOTES – The teachers are doing a fantastic job in following with
students to make sure that all notes that were posted on Teams are
transferred to the note books either by copying or printing and
pasting. We would like the parents to further reinforce this task by
inspecting their children’s’ note books. These notes are extremely
important as students will need them for the end of year examination.
For Year 10, it is even more crucial as the notes will be needed for
IGCSE.
YEAR 9 SUBJECT SELECTION FORUM - We would like to thank the
Year 9 parents for a very lively, interactive and informative IGCSE
subject selection forum held online. We were able to deliberate on
various issues regarding careers and subjects. We have received
most of the subject selection forms. We would like all students to
return the subject selection forms so that we can start working on
the groupings for the next Academic Year.

CAREERS FOR YEAR 9 STUDENTS – Year 9 parents are advised to
commence discussions with their children about careers of their
choice and possible universities/colleges that their children would
love to attend. If possible, visit the university/college websites and
find out about course requirements. Further, endeavour to connect
your child to friends and family members who are in professions that
your child wants to pursue. This will give the child valuable
information regarding that profession.

The University of Waterloo is ranked #9 in Canada and #166 in the QSGlobal World Rankings 2021. For the last 48 years, the university’s Centre for Education inMathematics and Computing (CEMC) has strived to inspire studentsin grades 5-12 by challenging them to stretch their limits in the worldof Mathematics and Computer Science.
This year, Oshwal Academy- Junior High presented 43 students in theCEMC Mathematics contest various categories as follows.
The organization awards a medal to the top student in the school and acertificate of distinction to those who rank in the top 25% in respectivecategories. The results are out, and the following students excelled in the contest:

we may write A maps on to image A’. Speaking it would
be: “A maps on to image A prime.”
Although this may makeyou look a little crazy, give it a go! You will be
surprised how muchmore you can
remember when youhave said it out loud.
Caveat:
Do not try this in a crowded library!

MathematiciansA mathematician is an expert in the field of mathematics; a person who is highly
skilled and knowledgeable. It is a science that deals with numbers and their
interrelations, combinations and operations, data, measurements, quantity,
structure, space and generalizations. The science is extensively used in the fields
of finance, engineering, industries, robotics, astronomy, business, information
technology, and various other fields. Mathematicians analyze data, study
patterns and develop mathematical models that not only help to further human
knowledge, but are also utilized for solving problems in various fields. These
scientists work in the fields of pure and applied mathematics. In the pure form of
this science, the researchers work through abstract problems with the sole
motive of furthering human knowledge and contributing to theory formation.
On the other hand, professionals working in the applied form formulate
mathematical models for problem solving in real-world situations. But these two
fields are overlapping—what starts out as a theoretical study may spawn some
practical applications, while applied study of maths may sometimes contribute
to its theoretical base. They need to be highly analytical and technologically
savvy with excellent reasoning skills. Being a mathematician is hard. Only a few
people have mastered this subject and achieved fame. Of those, there have been
some famous Indian mathematicians such as Srinivasa Ramanujan, Aryabhata,
Shakuntala Devi, and many more. Over the weeks to come, we will discuss some
of the famous mathematicians and their contributions to Mathematics.
SRINIVASA RAMANUJANA self-taught genius Indian mathematician, SrinivasaRamanujan is known for his contributions to mathematicalanalysis, number theory and continued fractions. Born into ahumble family, the celebrated mathematician struggled withpoverty but still managed to publish first of his papers in theJournal of the Indian Mathematical Society. Later, hiscollaboration with English mathematician G. H. Hardy provedvery productive.
