Who are your target audience and how will you attract and address them?

Tom is one of my magazine readers, who fits into the target audience for my magazine. At 22 years of age he would identify himself as an emo. He works full time as a postman so listens to a lot of music on his phone such as Blink 182. his favorite band is arctic monkeys as it was the band that got him into rock music and opened the doors for other bands and helped him to make more friends that had similar music interests. Every summer he will travel to various gigs and festivals across the country with mates, this summer he is planning on going to Leeds for a massive festival.

To attract my target audience I have used various forms and conventions on the cover of the magazine. Firstly I have used vocabulary that my target audience may use or have heard been used by their artists for example the name of my magazine is “smash sound” where smash would usually be associated with rock culture and the violence of rock culture. I have feature artists that my target audience would of listened to or heard of that they will likely be interested in.
