Dear friends and colleagues,

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the 11th

Arab Orthodontic Congress

held jointly with the 12th

Lebanese Orthodontic Congress in Beirut,

Lebanon. I would like to express my deep satisfaction of sharing together

this important moment for the development of our specialty of Orthodontics.

This congress is one of the largest and most prestigious event in our area

and has been devoted to the theme “New perspectives in Orthodontics:

clinical expertise or evidence based?” Your presence confirms that these

issues are ones of our utmost importance in today’s world.

The valuable scientific contribution of our eminent speakers, as well as, the

motivation of our delegates and all participants coming from all over the

world has enabled us to uphold our meeting even though the delicate

situation that our country is going thru. I am greatly honored to receive you

in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, the intersection of the East and West and

to have you here with us.

Message from the Secretary General of the Arab Orthodontic Society

Dear colleagues,

It is now the Twentieth Anniversary of the establishment of the Arab

Orthodontic Society back in 1993 in Amman – Jordan. In all aspects of

life, when an effort is made to run one's daily business, one is bound to

face obstacles and problems. Most of these problems were solved through

the continuous and relentless efforts to categorize them and lay them out

to the High Arab Orthodontic Council in their ordinary or urgent

meetings to postulate remedies and solutions.

The corner stone of the Arab Orthodontic Society is now firmly laid

down. It should be realized, however, that there is still a long way to go

in order to build a solid and highly organized society, which is equal to

its peers in the modern world. But I dare say that the one thousand mile

trip starts with one forward step, and I do feel that we already moved

many steps in that direction. I do hope that, with the help and assistance

of all concerned, the Arab Orthodontic Society, God's willing, will take

its place side by side with those societies established many decades ago.

The young qualified generation of orthodontists, which I witnessed

through my long career and practice is very promising and I am

confident that they will continue the mission towards their Arab

Orthodontic Society.
