A bit about the team behind our Mountain Biking Adventure Team Building Activities…

Escapegoat Adventures was set up by Ian & Deborah Fehler back in 2008. In the last 15 years they have spent their time living in Adelaide and

travelling the World. With over 20 years experience working in the outdoor tourism and event

management industries, they are totally passionate about mountain biking, South Australia,

and providing the best experience for their guests.

Ian finished University, and to avoid getting a proper job, spent a lot of time travelling which

involved being a Scuba Dive Instructor, Snowboard Guide and Fraud Analyst.

In 2002, Ian married an Adelaide girl and moving to the city of churches reignited his passion for all

things about mountain biking. In 2006, the French Alps beckoned and he worked for 2 years as Head MTB Guide for a British Adventure Company. This experience allowed him to achieve his Mountain

Bike Leaders Award (MBLA) MBL qualification, qualifying him to guide expeditions

and lead and instruct bike riders around the world.

Ian has run Escapegoat in Adelaide since 2008, helping hundreds of MTB riders to improve their skills, and many thousands to try mountain biking for the first time. He has lead a number of Flinders Ranges expeditions, annual trips back to the French Alps, and lead groups in New Zealand.

Due to his passion for MTB Trail Advocacy, Escapegoat is the first (and currently only) MTB

tour business to have a licence to operate tours in DEWNR conservation parks. Indeed, it was the best

biking tours in Adelaide that he had experienced.

Ian splits his time between Escapegoat and lots of other initiatives - occasionally contributing articles

to “Australian Mountain Bike” magazine, bike maintenance instructor for BikeSA, current

committee member of the SA Mountain Bike Association (SAMBA), and assisting BikeSA and the

DEWNR with various trails projects. He is also a qualified Private Investigator, a keen mountain bike

orienteer (2009 SA State Champion), adventure racer, and beer and wine drinker.

Deborah, the brains of the team, is Adelaide born and bred, and a qualified social worker. After being

employed in various social work roles over the years, she decided to travel to Europe, specifically the Alps where she worked as a chalet host, and

met Ian. After another winter season in Colorado as a Chalet Manager, spending a summer in Cyprus

working at a dive centre, and a summer in the Caribbean working with American teenager, she

moved back to

Adelaide with Ian. The next 3 years saw her working as a Programme Coordinator,

organizing charitable team building activities for children living with cancer, before she finally travelled back to Europe for 16 months, and

worked as a chalet manager, whilst squeezing in as much Mountain Biking, Hiking and Snowboarding

as she could.

Deborah is now happily back in Adelaide, using her events management experience to ensure all the

trips and events run as smoothly as possible.Jase Rodley recently joined the team, after working

in Whistler as an MTB guide.“I ride a mix of cross country, downhill, all day epics

and all the fun stuff in between.

Previously a mountain bike guide for the Whistler Bike Park in Canada, trust me when I say that I have

seen it all!There’s so much fun to be had within this sport

whether it’s through competition or just the enjoyment of it.

My passion for mountain biking is born out of this fun, and now as a guide and coach I’m able to help
