PLANNING A MAGAZINE Francis Evdokimov

Planning task: Indie/Folk Pop For my Magazine task, I will be creating a folk pop magazine. Audience: Primary audience would both females and males. There would be around

61% male readers to 39% female readers. The age span of these readers would be looking at older teenagers as well

as adults from the age of around 19-30. The average age of a buyer would be around 25. Ethnicity: usually the ethnicity and gender would be white people, both

European and American. This is a very unique song interests and other ethnicities seem to go more main stream and stick to what is popular.

Fulltime workers: 48% Part time: 25% Studying: 27% Average spent on items by a reader (1 year): Footwear: £130 Clothing:

£165 DVD’S: £50 Digital cameras: £150 Musical equipment: £1000

Audience interests:

Recreation

What would I recreate? In This ‘NME’ magazine front there are many things I would like to recreate to use in my front cover. Firstly the magazine cover is very colourful and which links to folk culture. The magazine seems very lively and uses a range of colours to grab the attention of the audience.

The second the second aspect I would like to recreate is the main cover line. The text ‘The Wombats’ looks very funky due to the slanted text of ‘the’. It portrays how the group and magazine may differ from other magazines as well as music.

Thirdly another good feature of this magazine cover is the bottom text box which includes ‘new music’. I think this would be very effective as it gives extras to the audience, as in a gift for buying/reading the magazine. The magazine also supplies the readers with new upcoming songs which would interest them therefore getting the audience interested in what songs will be a hit next week and so on.
