BACKGROUNDAdam Richard Wiles better known by his stage name Calvin Harris, is a Scottish singer, songwriter, record producer, remixer and DJ. His debut album, I Created Disco, was released in 2007 and was the precursor to his top-10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls". In 2009, Harris released his second studio album, Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and its lead single, "I'm Not Alone", became Harris's first number one on the UK Singles Chart.

GETTING FAMOUS/AWARDSHarris holds the record for the most top-10 hits from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with nine hits, surpassing Michael Jackson. In October 2014, he became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also become the first British solo artist to reach more than 1 billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received seven Brit Award nominations—two for Best British Male, and four Grammy nominations, winning a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2013. He received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards was named Top Dance/Electronic Artist. Additionally, Harris topped Forbes’ list of the world's highest-paid DJs for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015.

Scrolling through his website, it’s very blog-like, there’s no writing

except the hyperlinks on the next page. The simplistic-ness of his

blog shows how he and the website appeals to the younger

audience.His album covers and singles are displayed as pictures along with

the awards he's won and the festivals he’s played at, showing

he’s quite reserved.

He has promoted his latest single ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ on twitter by changing his header and icon to the single artwork.

ALBUM COVER ANALYSIS

This is Calvin’s latest album, much like his website it is extremely simple and the colours are very cool (blues and greys) perhaps connoting himself, he comes across cool and relaxed as indicated by him not giving much away on his website.

The album name ‘motion’ has a strong connotation to the album artwork, it looks as though there is a dancing person who is creating a lot of motion as seen by these lines.

PREVIOUS ALBUM COVERS

SIMILAR TO HIS LATEST ALBUM HIS PREVIOUS ALBUM COVES ARE SIMPLISTIC. HIS 2ND LATEST ONE ‘18MONTHS’ IS SIMILAR AS IT AGAIN HAS COOL COLOURS, UNLIKE THIS ONE WHICH HAS NO COLOURS AT ALL. THE CORRELLATION BETWEEN THESE THREE

ALBUMS IS HE ISNT SHOWING HIS FACE, EVEN ON THE BACK COVER WHERE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE HIS FACE THE IMAGE IS AN EXTREME LONG SHOT AND WE CAN’T. THE LAST ALBUM COVER IS CONTRASTS A LOT WITH THE OTHERS AS IT IS BRIGHT

YELLOW HOWEVER EVENTHOUGH HIS FACE IS ON THE COVER WE STILL CAN’T REALLY SEE HIS FACE AS HE IS WEARING SUNGLASSES.

HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE VIDEO

Very much like the album cover, the colours are cool blues and are also quite simple. Along with the similarity of the album cover, he doesn’t show his face and uses model Gigi Hadid instead and she is seen through a lot of close ups. The club scenes could represent him as a DJ eventhough he is not seen at all throughout the music video. The club scenes with fluorescent lights match his old fluorescent yellow album cover, this could represent the old Calvin and the scenes where theres a yacht and the colours match his latest album could represent the new, successful Calvin as he is a lot more cooler and richer and this is seen through the boat and exotic scenery.
