The main film to focus on for 1990’s is Jurassic park. Jurassic park is about a group of people chosen to tour an island theme park filled with dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's owner, assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when different ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Audience:Target audience for sci-fi films is 18 -30 year olds. There are male and female viewers in science fiction. However in the 1990’s there was more male viewers as there were more male protagonists (Leading character or main group of characters). How in later on in the 20th century there were more female viewers as there were more female characters and lead role characters and females could relate to them. This relates to the film Jurassic park as there were female and male protagonists, such as Alan grant who stared as Sam Neil and Ellie Sattler who stared as Laura Dem.

Institution:Jurassic Park was filmed in many places. The opening scene from the trailer shows a helicopter flying towards an Island that island was Called “Dinosaur island” but was actually Lawai Kauai in Hawaii . The studio production was universal Studious. They were successful with this film as it had many effects going on and it always kept the viewers intrigued. They were also successful as the film was rated pg. – 13. This meant young children could go and watch this film with accompany of young parents. It cost universal 63 million dollars to make the film. Science fiction films now have changed due to better graphics and effects. The effects look like they are actually there and not on a green screen.

Representation:The main protagonists were : Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler Dr. Ian Malcolm, John Hammond, Robert Muldoon, Donald Gennaro, Tim Murphy and Lex Murphy. The characters are being constructed as a group and some of them are island guides. The only evil aspect of the films is when the dinosaurs break free and are on the hunt.

Codes and Conventions• Cloning is a popular scientific element in films which is included in Jurassic Park.• Jurassic Park is classed as a sci-fi because in reality you would not be able to

mutate and resurrect the dinosaur population from the DNA from a fossilized mosquito.
