Program Outcomes

Cultivate is an outcome-based initiative – everything we do is to accomplish four primary goals.

Page 17: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Learn your calling. God creates and redeems each individual for His glory and their good. We invite you to seek a better understanding of the Gospel and its implications for all of life. You’ll better discern your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your passions and how they are expressed. The experience is designed to help you refine your understanding of your calling, vocation, and purpose. Why It Matters

Page 18: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Strengthsfinder 2.0Each intern takes this assessment by the Gallup Organization to identify his or her top five strengths. You will reflect upon and refine these strengths during your internship in conversations with your manager, APC, and/or Cultivate staff.

Root GroupsInterns in each location participate in Root Groups – intentionally-designed small groups that create space for prayer, conversation, encouragement, and spiritual practice. Either APCs or OneHope staff facilitate each Root Group.

Weekly UpdateYou will meet one-on-one weekly with your APC or an OneHope staff member to discuss guided reflections and interpret the impact of your internship experience.

What We Do

Page 19: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Create better ministry. What is “ministry success?” You are trained in outcome-based ministry, OneHope’s collaborative and tool-based philosophy of ministry that aims to pursue ministry faithfulness and effectiveness. Interns are placed in generalist or specialist ministry roles to research, design, and/or implement outcome-based ministry models and programs.

Why It Matters

Page 20: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Ministry PlacementYou serve in your ministry placement with an OneHope or partner ministry team. OneHope department leaders and/or partner ministry leaders identify projects and activities that will further the organizational mission and vision. You apply the outcome-based ministry design process to conduct research, design effective solutions, implement, and/or evaluate progress on those ministry projects.

Outcome-based Ministry TrainingInterns are trained in the outcome-based ministry paradigm, learning its fundamental principles, tools, and applications. OBM is both a philosophy and a process; subsequently, you will both consider its implications for ministry work and learn to apply it in daily activity. You will participate in overview training during Orientation Week, and go deeper in each component throughout the internship.

What We Do

Page 21: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Grow your faith.  Cultivate interns engage in Scripture, Christian community, and spiritual disciplines in pursuit of the Spirit-led life. You will learn from the diverse perspectives of your peers, OneHope staff, and members of OneHope’s broader ministry family. Together we will seek to better love God and neighbor by discovering how to engage rapidly changing cultures.

Why It Matters

Page 22: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Worldview DevelopmentWhat shape should ministry practice, discipleship, and evangelism take in the 21st century? Interns discuss, consider, and refine their understanding of cultural engagement and ministry best practice in sessions taught by OneHope staff and ministry partners.

Local ChurchIf you’re serving with a local church partner, you will actively engage in the life of that community. If you’re serving at OneHope’s international office or with one of our regional teams, you will connect with diverse local congregations in that location.

What We Do

Page 23: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Connect with the global Church. By 2050, 67% of the world’s 2.5 billion Christians will live in Africa, South America, or Asia. You will connect with theologically, nationally, and culturally diverse Christians to better understand ministry in the global Church. Every ministry placement – from Minneapolis to Beirut – is an intentionally cross-cultural experience.

Why It Matters

Page 24: 2017 Cultivate Summer Internship by OneHope

Cross-cultural EducationEach internship location – from Minneapolis to Beirut – is an intentionally cross-cultural experience. You begin the process of understanding your own culture, the culture of others, and experience how the two can intersect for meaningful relationships and impactful ministry.

Cohort ExperienceCultivate internships are intentionally-designed cohort experiences. One of the best avenues of development – and most impactful elements of the internship – is the community formed by diverse individuals living and serving together for Kingdom growth.
