Neurologia este specialitatea care se ocupă cu diagnosticarea,tratarea şi recuperarea bolnavilor cu suferinţe ale sistemuluinervos.

Neurology offers an exciting and intellectual avenue for those interested in the brain,spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles in both adults and children. Recentadvances now allow the accurate diagnosis and treatment of many severely disablingdisorders considered unapproachable 20 years ago.
Neurologists treat patients who have a variety of disorders, including headaches,strokes, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, dystonia, muscular dystrophy, peripheralnerve disease, learning disorders, traumatic injuries to the nervous system, Parkinson’s,Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s disease. Some are also engaged in neurologicalrehabilitation. Many neurological problems are characterized by pain and can bechronic, debilitating, and difficult to treat.
A large portion of the practice of neurology is consultative, but the neurologist may alsobe the primary physician. The specialty has close links with psychiatry, with which itmaintains a combined certification board. Clinical neurophysiology is a subspecialty inthe diagnosis and management of central and peripheral nervous system disordersusing electrophysiological techniques.
