WHO IS FACT?• FACT is a Christian national Development and HIV & AIDS
service NGO in Zimbabwe. • Originally, FACT was driven by a small team of three staff
members and volunteers, • Current staff complement now stands at 140 (40%over the
past year)• FACT has developed a reputation of being a community-
oriented NGO and works with over 1 500 volunteers.• Operates in Manicaland,Mashonaland West and
Masvingo.Regionally with Mozambique, Zambia,Malawi,Kenya,Swaziland and South Africa
• It has acted as a granter to NGOs and CBOs country wide.
• FACT strives to be a renowned and result focused organisation that facilitates sustainable community programmes

3 Strategic Pillars of FACT1.0Health and HIV - Combination HIV prevention, Holistic care and support, Complementing Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, Non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
2.0 Sustainable livelihoods- food security, nutrition, livestock, crop farming and market linkages).
3.0 Research and knowledge management - evidence based interventions research, monitoring, evaluation; conducting basic and applied research to inform implementation, and research consultancy.

• The new Executive Director’s vast experience in academic research has contributed immensely to the growth of FACT.
• E.g. the EPAZ(Eliminating Pediatric AIDS in Zimbabwe )being funded by WHO. The research is in partnership with MOHCW, Africa University;on nurse led initiation of ART, Mother support groups and establishment of point of care machines to minimise loss to follow-up

• FACT has its own buildings and projects rent from the Trust
• A fleet of 27 vehicles that can be hired out to projects

7.0 Integration of Projects
• Helps reduce costs on transport in this resource constrained environment or donors come in to complement existing projects. E.g The OVC project integrating with HIV prevention projects with wider coverage.
• Officers run at least 2 projects as a way of boosting their salaries and ensuring high impact with fewer resources

8.0 Donor retention
• Have managed to retain most donors eg Tearfund since 1989 by;
• Complying to requirements• Nurturing relationships with traditional donors• Being transparent and accountable • Networking and building relationships e.g. attending
health and livelihood cluster meetings.

Conclusion
• No more business as usual• Think outside the box• Need to rebrand our organizations• If you don’t change, change will change you • Business approach should be adopted. • Adoption of the BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY –explore
your own unique territory where there is no competition
