Target Audience of our Music Video

• The audience will be able to idolise the star as they’ll be similar to the audience, and audiences tend to idolise music artists.

• For example, artists such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus all have big cult followings, and fanbases which are so devoted to one particular star they give themselves pet names such as ‘monsters’ for Lady Gaga.

• However, this is mainly in pop music where the artist is very much present in the music industry and in the media.

• The audience we’re aiming at would be the average ‘indie’ girl. By Indie, I mean those who do not conform to mainstream fashion, TV and film trends.

• Their dress sense is usually influenced by vintage and retro fashion trends and they prefer things with a history opposed to new and modern things.

• We have chosen to aim our music video at this stereotype because the genre of the song would appeal to this kind of person due to the heavy 60’s influences in the music and style.

• The slow tempo and tongue in cheek lyrics would also only mainly attract a more niche audience.

• Because the audience we’re targeting at is a niche audience opposed to mainstream, we’re going to appeal directly to them.

• This means it will be easier for us as we won’t have to try and appeal to a large and diverse market.

• We’re going to do this by making our video abstract opposed to having a strong narrative in our video.

• To make it abstract we will use lots of different effects in the post production process. When filming, we’re going to shoot shots that will look aesthetically pleasing, such as a scene consisting of food colouring being poured into a glass of water. We’ll put this in slow motion to make it look effective. We’re also going to use the mirror technique in premier pro to make a kaleidoscope effect. This will create the visual imagery we desire.
