+Matching our ideas with conventions of the rock genre To make sure that our music video would attract the

attention of the right target audience, I want to match our ideas with what people generally look at when watching a rock music video and what people expect in a rock music video. What would also be effective is if it attracts audiences which may not be into such music but still matches what they expect in an average rock music video.

+Conventions in our music video

Most of the conventions in a rock music video will be used in our to target our audience to make sure we attract the right type of people to the music video. This includes things such as dark lighting which will attract rock lovers as they tend to want to know what the song is as a lot of music videos have dark beginnings which draws the audience in. Another example includes casual clothing due to the fact the live band performance is going to be like a band practice so they’re not dressed up to record the video. Live performance will also attract the audience along with the appearance of instruments as not many other genres include instrument close-ups/appearance so this will attract the correct type of audience. There isn’t much voyeurism in rock music videos but this can sometimes be shown if there is a female lead singer in the band but as the band that is being used and the song artist are both males then voyeurism won’t necessarily need to be used. However, there is a female role in the music video and this could be used to promote voyeurism if we wanted to break the repetition of no voyeurism in music videos.
