SUMMARY• The Hunger Games is a fiction novel about a young girl who is subjected to

the cruel and twisted games that a terrible nation forces upon its public. Katniss Everdeen lives in the horrible country of Panem which once was North America. Panem is a magnificent Capitol that is surrounded by twelve districts. The Capitol controls all of Panem and to prevent revolts the Capitol forces every district to send one girl and one boy between the ages of twelve and eighteen to compete in The Hunger Games; which is a fight to the death that is broadcasted across the nation on live television. Katniss’ sister is called to be a participant in the games, but Katniss steps up and takes her sister’s place in the games. Katniss certainly believes she will die at some point in the games, but she is smart, athletic, and knows how to survive. Does Katniss stand a chance? Can she survive?
