“Mardi Gras” is French for “Fat Tuesday” and refers to the last night of eating and drinking before the fasting of the Lenten season,

which begins on Ash Wednesday

A “krewe” is an organization that produces a bal, parade, or float

during the carnival season.

What is the Krewe of Calypseaux?

We are a parading krewe based in St. Charles, MO.

We participate in the Soulard Mardi Gras

Parades, and several other area parades throughout

the year

The Krewe of Calypseaux is dedicated to providing

a high-quality float to entertain the community.

And to have fun while doing it!

Mermaids?Mark and Rita

are our mascots and ride with us in all of our parades! They

came to us from Eureka Springs

Why such a funny name –

can’t you people spell?

We liked “Calypso” but it was already

taken by a krewe in Port Arthur, TX… so we just “cajunized”

the spelling… it sounds the same!

What are your floats like?

The Krewe of Calypseaux has two permanent parade

floats.

We enjoy decorating these floats and work on them

all year long to prepare for parade season!

How competitive is your krewe?

We do this for fun… but are proud to

say that our floats are crowd favorites

and consistently take home awards

I am not particularly handy or artistic, can I still join the krewe?

Of course you can! We enjoy fun people of all

types! And who knows, you may discover a

hidden talent for covering things with

glitter!

How much does it cost?

Would you believe only $2.22 a week!

Parade packages start at only $115 and include participation in Soulard

Mardi Gras and ALL parades and krewe activities as well

as a bead package.
