ciation Awards (GAA) Gala at Marigny The-atre, 1030 Marigny St., New Orleans, Sat-urday, July 19. Beginning at 8pm sharp,doors will open at 7pm. Admission is $10at the door. Members of the GAA Board ofDirectors will join Savanna on stage topresent the award winners throughout theevening including Lisa Beaumann, Teryl-Lynn Foxx, Toni Pizanie, and Rip andMarsha Naquin-Delain. GAA FounderMarcy Marcell and last year's Entertainerof the Year, Princesse Stephaney, are slatedto perform. Additionally, all GAA Top 5 ShowBar of the Year Finalists are scheduled toperform a production number for the event.All proceeds from the event benefit theWilliam Fanning Foundation, better knownas Buzzy’s Boys & Girls, including VIPTable sales, door admissions and stageperformance tips. Ambush sponsors theevent covering all expenses.

Mary L. Lathouwers has been cho-sen unanimously by the Gay AppreciationAwards (GAA) Board of Directors to re-ceive the 21st Lifetime AchievementAward, the highest honor bestowed eachyear at the GAA Gala. Mary is a detective atthe New Orleans Police Department(NOPD) 8th District working on propertycrimes including burglary and fraud. Sheis also the liaison from NOPD to the GLBTcommunity and has worked extensively inensuring the safety of the community atevents including the annual SouthernDecadence celebration Labor Day Week-end. Working for thirteen years in lawenforcement, Mary has been with NOPDfor the past ten years.

Mary and her partner of 19 years,Darlene Gaudin, flew to San Franciscoand legally married on July 7. Californiaallows same sex couples to celebratetheir new found freedom to marry withoutdiscrimination under the law as of June17, 2008.
