Integration of building internally and externally with landscaped courtyards, plazas, water pools and lush surrounding greenery

Interpretation of traditional and cultural forms, from the Siput Gerus oval shape of the building to the adaptation of the Songket motifs in the building facade. Malaysian Forms applied to a contemporary architectural vocabulary.

Pedagogically-driven space planning in conjunction with facilities planner, zoning of areas that allow for both individual and communal activities

Bank Negara as an institution must remain formal and dignified. The low-rise human scale form within surrounding landscape is inviting in appearance, and the formal yet refined façades present a strong and dignified aesthetic

Formal training and conferencing areas together with the financial museum and art gallery are balanced with informal courtyards, atriums and “lifestyle” cafes

Wireless, digital and embedded technologies are changing the way we live, work and learn. Intelligent Building strategies provide a responsive, conducive and effective learning and working environment

The building form is inspired by the earliest form of currency, the Siput Gerus. A simple yet expressive form, the oval shape of the building offers a soft footprint that responds contextually to the long site.

The inspiration behind the design approach to the FSRC is in highlighting the importance of Bank Negara’s and the nation’s Warisan or heritage.

This concept is embellished on the front face of the building that consists of three “pavilions”: Pusaka or artefacts reflecting the various collections of the Bank’s Financial Museum, Seni demarcating the Bank’s extensive art collection and Pustaka or literature being the Resource Centre housed inside.
