SPACE ANALYSIS .

THE DESIGN APPROACH FOR THE ART GALLERY RELATES BACK TO THE MAIN BUILDING ITSELF, WHICH ISMODERN ARCHITECTURE.THE SPACE SELECTED IS TO PRESENT ARTWORKS LIKE PAINTING AND

SCULPTURES. THE SPACE IS OPEN AND WIDE TO AVOID UNNECESSARY ATTENTION. PARTITION WALLWERE USED TO CREATE DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL SPACES FOR DIFFERENT ARTWORK. MODERN AND

SIMPLE MATERIALS WERE USED TO PORTRAY THE AMBIANCE OF AN ART GALLERY.

ART GALLERY IS LOCATED AT THE THIRD FLOOR OF THEBUILDING. THE LIGHTING IN THIS GALLERY IS BETTER

COMPARED TO THE OTHERS. NATURAL LIGHTING ARE

MALAYSIAN HERITAGE. THE OPENNESS AND TRANSPARENCY OF GLASSREFLECTS THE OPENNESS OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE.

SENSE OF MATERIALITY .

1. Wide openarea with

partition wall

2. Openness and transparency through usage of glass

3. Natural light from

skylight

LAMINATEDWOOD

CONCRETE &TEMPEREDGLASS STAINLESS STEEL

Laminated wood is used due to theease of installation, cleaning andmaintenance. It can last longer

compared to hardwood because ofits high durability and scratchresistance when the gallery has

higher visitor traffic. It provides a

cozy feeling. The visitor can experience a sense of opennesswhen the laminated wood reflectsthe light from the skylight. It is noteasy to fade from UV light, which is suitable to be used in the gallery.

The usage of glass enhance theambience of modern architecture,

other than its aesthetically pleasingapprearance. It acts as a media tochannel natural sunlight into the

gallery. The usage of tempered glassenhance the safety of the gallery asit was located at the third floor, when the glass breaks, it will forminto tiny pieces that can reduce the

harm when it drops.

The interior concrete gives a smoothand clean texture. It was paintedwhite to give a simplistic and sleekappreance. Since the gallery is

focusing on painting and sculptures, white colour prevents unnecessarycolour to be reflected on the

original painting, and to highlightthe display products. Stainless steelwas used for decoration purposes, acts as a support and fitting to thewalls. The usage of stainless steel inthe skylight creates a “break” inbetween the lighting shadowinstead of a direct lighting.
