Located at Jalan Dato' Onn, Kuala Lumpur, Sasana Kijang houses the nationalbank, an museum and art gallery. The building form is inspired by the earliest formof currency, the . A simple yet expressive form, the oval shape of thebuilding offers a soft footprint that responds contextually to the long site.

NORTH ELEVATION

Highest strength-to-density ratio, minimum thermal expansion &

contractionQuite unreactive, corrosion resistant, Durable yet less expensive than other metals with excellent plasticity, lightweight imposing less burden on the structure permits ease offabrication, suitable to protect other materials from moisture damage

Aesthetically astonishing exterior facade, creating reflections in differentlight conditions

LAMINATED GLASS

TITANIUM

Blocks 99% of UV raysPolyvinyl butyral (PVB) sandwiched between its two or more layers ofglass, keeps the layers of glass bonded if broken,

2.5 mm glass / 0.38 mm interlayer / 2.5 mm glassSuit with the modern design concept, inviting in appearance as itgives out a transparent look, safe, reduce risk of injuryMainly on the exterior with spider fittings as support

TINTED GLASSPale blue-green colourManufactured by blending iron oxide into the glass composition, whichreduces the transmission of light & radiant heat through itGives the facade of the building a more uniform appearance, reduce thefading of furniture and carpet as well as the heat gain inside the buildingExterior of the building, mainly the windows.

STEEL BEAM

Ductile and malleable.

Able to handle the weight of laminated glass. The combination of steeland laminated glass is aesthetically amusing as they both complimentwith each other and matches the design concept, cost of maintenanceis low as it is resistant to termites, fire When in contact with water, cancorrode, must be painted with water resistant coatingExterior skeletal structures of glass windows, bolts & nuts

INTERIOR MATERIALS

- Density: 0.68 g/cm3Irregular grain and cloudy dark colour, strong, acts asan excellent heat insulator. It has low productionenergy requirements and is a net carbon absorber.- Decorative wood which is aesthetically appealing,

add depth and warmth to the modern space.

- Wall paneling on the walls outside of the gallery

WALNUT HARDWOOD

CREMA MARFIL MARBLE-Beige colourApparent Specific Weight: 2.70 g/cm3 ApparentPorosity: 0.1 % Absorption Coefficient: 0.16%

Compression Strength: 683 kg/cm2 Bending Strength:

94 kg/cm2 C. Strength After Freezing Test: 691 kg/m2Friction Wear Test: 5.2 mm Impact Test: 37.5 cm-Good decorative performance with a classic touchof elegance, allows a space to look wide. Last longand not easy to aging-The steps of the spiral staircase

- Made from composite wood pressed together athigh temperatures, durable, resists scratches, moisture and wear and tear

- Material & installation cost are cheaper, easier toclean. However,it doesn’t repair easily if damaged.

- The flooring for most of the galleries and exhibits

LAMINATED WOOD- Distinctive, uniformly smooth satin-like appearance- Produced by the sandblasting or acid etching ofclear sheet glass, frosting process occurs 300’C. Themorphology of the surface layer of the frosted glassis characterized by a system microblocks (lineardimensions 50–150 µm) and microcracks (width100–200 nm).

- Admits light while providing softening and visioncontrol, provides high level of privacy and eliminatesdistractions from hectic world outside.

- Interior windows, and the top of the elevator.

FROSTED GLASS

- has approximately four times the mechanical andthermal strength of annealed glass of equalthickness, chemical resistance- Matches with the building design intention as glassis mainly used, gives out an aesthetic modern feelwithout compromising on the safety as it is less likelyto experience a thermal break but disintegrates ifbroken. However, it requires general maintenancesuch as cleaning and overlook on cracks or dents.- The elevator shaft, staircase railing, smallerwindows with stainless steel fitting

TEMPERED GLASS

- Shiny surface, high strength & hardness- Steel alloyed with chromium(18%), nickel (8%),

magnesium (8%). Excellent corrosion resistance.

- The stainless steel framework and tempered glassforms a geometrical pattern which shows a sculpturaldiamond skin to tie with external diamond facade,

jewel at the hear of complex. Maintenance cost isgenerally low as it does not corrode, is termite and fireresistant, and most importantly durable.

- Main entrance tempered glass frame fitting

- Apparent density: 2670 Kg/m3 | Absorptioncoefficient: 0,54 %wt | Compressive strength (DRY C):

106 MPa | Modulus of rapture(DRY C): 15 MPa |

Abrasion resistance : 5.59 mm

- Gives out a luxurious feeling which suits with theconcept of the Economics and Bank Negara MalaysiaGallery - Used as walls of the Economics and Bank NegaraMalaysia Gallery and as a divider between themuseum space and other spaces

- Yellow colour granite | WaterAbsorption:0.04 % |

CompressiveStrength: 163.0 - 175.0 MPa | Density:2710kg/m3 | Flexural Strength: 25.3 MPa | Impactresistance: 32 cm - Brings an intrinsic high quality look, prevents thewalls to look dirty and old - The walls of the pathway to lifts, emergency stairsand toilets.

Creamy white with beautiful pattern, extremely highresistance to abrasion and frost.Abrasion resistance hardness : 34.80 | Flexural strength: 1300 Mpa | Compressive strength : 824.6 kg/cm2

Modulus of Rupture : 1800 Mpa | Absorption byweight : 0.120% | Density : 2627 kg/m3- Gives off an elegant feel and a sense of direction in astraight parallel line- The floorings of the walkway connecting the galleriesat every floor

- Silvery white appearance, lightweight, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile - resistant to corrosion - The semi matte surface gives a clean andminimalist look where it matches the sophisticatedfeel of the space. Maintenance free as it does not rust, less costly than stainless steel.- The outer layer of the columns within the buildingas it is tough at very low temperature.

- Blueish in color, one of Malaysian famousproductions - 85–99% tin and contains lead

- Comply with the modernism design concept as itoffers a premium and unique look, requires lowmaintenance , however is too costly & needs to behandled with care as it can be scratched easily. - The exterior of the spiral staircase

- Greyish in color, high durability, does not rot, decayor corrode, strong in compression - Mixture of Portland cement, water and aggregates - Generally suitable for any design concept, economical, can be easily handled and moulded intoany desired shape making it very easy to work & ableto withstand an amount of tensile stress, however it ishigh in thermal storage.

- The foundation of the building, pavements, slab andcolumns within the building
