Educational electronic game that helps kids to master their media literacy skills
and learn about the work of media.
There are 10 levels, each of which corresponds with a topic/lesson from the Media Literacy Handbook.
Level 1- Media Messages “Which of these 10 headlines could be news for the Armenian audience?” Users
should select the 3 correct answers, after which they get some information about characteristics and style of news.
Level 1- Media messages“Drag and reorder the paragraphs to build a news story using the inverted
pyramid method.” Afterwards, the player can compare her story with one made by a professional journalist.
Level 2- History of Media“Drag the icons and put them in the correct spots on the media history timeline.”
When the player places an icon correctly, a textbox pops up with details on the history of that particular type of media.
Level 3- Analyzing media “Drag, reorder or delete the paragraphs to make a news story” First the player
chooses what type of news she wants to create (objective, imbalanced, propaganda), then builds the article from the given information. Afterwards players read about how to read media texts critically .
Level 4- Media freedoms and limitations “Find the right answer.” A test about media regulations and ethics. With each
right answer, the player gets more information about the question in a pop-up text box.
Level 5- Media from the Inside “Who works where?” First the player chooses a type of media (print, radio, TV,
online), then chooses people who work in that type of media. At the end there is a text about the structure of a media organization/company and its business model.
Level 6- Print media “Make your front-page.” The player chooses one of 3 given layouts and then fills it
with articles and photos. At the end there is a text about use of visuals and photos in newspaper layouts.
Level 7- Radio “Make your radio story.” First the player chooses one of 5 topics of a radio story.
Then she builds her story with the provided audio bits (parts of a journalist’s text, interviews, natural sounds, sound effects) and afterwards can compare it with one made by a journalist. At the end, she can watch an educational video about the work of radio.
Level 8- TV “Make your own TV program.” The player builds his own TV news story from the
given TV stories made by teenagers. At the end he can watch an educational video about the work of a TV newsroom.
Level 9- Internet “Make a multimedia article for web.” First the player chooses one of 3 topics, then she gets a text, photos and videos on the topic
to create a multimedia article. After the game players can watch an educational video about the rules of online communication and problems they might encounter online.
