Navigation is too deep.

Instead of Current: Home > Teaching & Learning > K-4 Overview > K-4 Literacy Curriculum > Documents

Amend to: Home > Teaching & Learning > K-4 Overview > K-4 Literacy

Content PackagingBasic Ideas for Website Change

Content PackagingBasic Ideas for Website Change

• Webinar style video WITH navigation (or animation)

◦ separate short modules re: Vision, BluePrint, Overview, etc so viewer can see where they are, go back to a module, or select only what they are interested in–link to sample in Slide Notes

• Include links to documents/resources if these are helpful to teachers

• Move vertical buttons with module documents to side

• Include more easily accessible links to groups to follow (Wheatley, suggestions for other pages, perhaps another page entirely that lists all organized groups and that is searchable)

• Instead of labeling Wheatley as Beta, make it more exciting and enticing–be the first to try Wheatley

◦ Include information about any incentives like leadership, expert, mentor, participate in committees for professional development, etc.

200 Words: Counselor Match Tool For KIPPsters, Match Matters: Introducing the Counselor Match ToolKIPP Through College

When your junior prepares for college admissions, having a plan in place is crucial for success. Only KIPP counselors are equipped with effective tools that alleviate some of the guesswork when crafting such plans. Meant to support strong college preparatory counseling, our web-based Counselor Match Tool helps both student and counselor connect on important college conversations. The tool tracks various analytics such as the likelihood match between the student and college or university. Included are factors such as the student’s academic background, and whether the schools will be a good “fit” based on graduation rates and the realities of the net cost and average KIPP unmet need. The match analysis informs approach as a counselor guides students to build smart wish lists and make informed decisions about prioritizing college. The Individual Student View offers a quick visual of student application portfolios to see which applications are in each phase. And, the Multi Student view gives counselors a powerful visual to identify which students might need more help as the year progresses. Being there for students on their college bound journey is our priority.Learn more about how the Counselor Match Tool edges KIPPsters closer to college now.

3. Driving Adoption3. Driving AdoptionTypically, to drive adoption, I would need to research what is in place right now and what is lacking; then, devise a plan around the added benefits of the tool. What is already being done by counselors in KTC for college admission preparedness? What are the numbers and what is the success rate? Then, I would marry this tool to those ideas to focus on improved visibility and the value add of the tool information (vs the technical aspects).

Without having the benefit of seeing such analysis, to adopt the Counselor Match Tool:

I would provide Webinar Training for the tool at regular intervals/times to make it more accessible. This would also be an opportunity to hear and address concerns.

Seek Administrative sponsorship. When Administration starts to use particular buzzwords, it makes an impression on faculty that it is a Key Performance Indicator and Faculty will respond.

Numbers and charts that show success are compelling. I would seek ways to track KPIs and testimonials early in deployment. (I would look for information available from “beta” testing.)

Also, given the opportunity, I would like to investigate ways to have the tool shared virally. At this time, I don't have enough information about the counselor population to make a recommendation that would fit or be appropriate.
