KIPP Destiny Elementary will welcome its first class of Pre-Kindergarten students when it opens its doors in August. KIPP Destiny Pre-K (Powered by Mi Escuelita Preschool) will serve 60 students who will be eligible to automatically matriculate into kindergarten at KIPP Destiny Elementary the following year.

The mission of this program is to provide a pipeline from Pre-K through college graduation for students from underserved communities. The program will take place at the KIPP Destiny campus on Camp Wisdom road in southern Dallas. While the Pre-K program will share facilities with KIPP Destiny Elementary, Mi Escuelita will facilitate the program. The program and curriculum will remain true to the mission and vision of Mi Escuelita while preparing students for academic success at KIPP Destiny Elementary.

KIPP, which stands for the Knowledge is Power Program, is a national network of high performing charter schools. KIPP has 125 schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving more than 41,000 students.

KIPP currently operates one school in Dallas, KIPP TRUTH Academy, which serves 350 middle school students in 5th-8th grades. KIPP Destiny Elementary will open in August, 2013 as the second KIPP school, and first elementary school in the KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Mi Escuelita Preschool is a nationally accredited program providing early childhood education to children from underserved communities in the Dallas area. While remaining dedicated to the preservation of each child’s cultural heritage, Mi Escuelita’s primary focus is to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where non-English speaking children of preschool age are taught the English language, pre-reading, pre-math, pre-science, literacy, and social skills necessary to have a successful experience in both school and life.

How much does it cost? KIPP Destiny Pre-K is a free for families. Certain qualifications required, call Mi Escuelita at (214) 526-0220 for more information.

Is there transportation provided? Transportation is provided at no cost to families who live within the preference zones of our charter. Actual bus routes are being determined.

How do I enroll my child? Families can apply at any Mi Escuelita site. They can also call KIPP at (214) 302-4504.

What age does my child have to be? All Pre-K students must be four (4) years old by September 1, 2013.

What are the hours? Is this a full-day Pre-K or a half-day program? KIPP Destiny Pre-K is a full-day program. The instructional hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Before and after school care is available.
