1. An invention is "the discovery or creation of a new material (either a new manufactured product or a new composition or matter), a new process, a new use for an existing material, or any improvements of any of these."
2. A discovery is novel or original observation of some aspect of reality, usually a natural phenomenon; finding, meeting or manifestation of what was hidden or secret was unknown. 3. Discoveries and inventions may seem similar because of something new being revealed, however they are two different words and have different meanings. Discovery is finding out or figuring out something that preexists, while invention is using objects that preexist to create something new that is first of its kind.
