Second language acquisition: Process of learning a language by an individual who has mastered a mother tongue or native language.

To learn a language successfully it is necessary: to implement real and direct interactions with others , expressing our messages clearly and making sure we understand who is listening.

At the same time: The partner or partners let us know directly or indirectly if we are being understood or not.

Acquisition: Developing gradually the ability to speak a foreign language naturally

Learning: Conscious process of accumulating knowledge

Barriers to the acquisition of the new language-Time-Adaptation to new sounds

Language Skills

 -Listening: Interpretative action taken

by the listener in order to understand and potentially make meaning out of the sound waves.

-Speaking: complex cognitive process (Listening plays an important role).

-Reading: Cognitive process of decoding symbols to derive meaning from text (as in reading a book or reading music). Is necessary to select appropiate texts according to the students age and interests.

 Activities: Simulations and role plays,

storytelling, oral games (guess who), songs, etc.

-Writing: Medium of communication that represents language through the inscription of signs and symbols. Useful communication channel.

It will be easier if they have to write about something important for them such a letter to Santa Claus.
