Representing a social group:

■Due to the fact that our two minute opening only includes three main characters that are shown, only one particular social group is represented.

■The social group represented are young females■This is shown through our use of character choice,

being three young females who show independence and a sense of power in terms of taking authority and living by their own rules.

■Overall a sense of female dominance is portrayed.

■Specifically, the social group represented within young females is leaning more towards emo groups and our two minute opening represents this by the use of mise-en-scene

■For example, the three characters outfits. They are shown wearing dark colours, long skirts, jewellery and boots – similar to what is shown in the pictures below.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR

MEDIA PRODUCT?

Audience for ’The Occultist’:■ Our two minute opening focuses on young females as the

main social group represented. This means that they are also the target audience for our film. Including an age range, I would state that we target our film at females aged 15-25.

■ Relating our target audience to existing films, we would be looking at gaining similar audiences as films such as ‘Twilight’ and emo films such as Donnie Darko.

■ In terms of genre, we would also be looking to attract audience with a taste for thrillers and horrors, which the plot reflects as we have examples shown such as using a knife and putting a pillowcase over a characters head.
