After conducting a second survey after we made our video, we gathered more feedback. The feedback gave us an insight into

how successful our music video was. Again, we posed the survey to people who are specifically interested in indie music and we

posted it on Facebook and Twitter to gain participants.

We found that almost everyone thought that the video fits the style of music. The upbeat, fast nature of the song

compliments the fast cuts and stop motion present in the video. After being sceptical of using stop motion in our video due to it being unconventional, this feedback has

reassured us.

We knew already that our music video doesn’t 100% follow the conventions due to the heavy use of stop motion. The official video for ‘Cassius’ shows random props, but not as

many as we have decided to include. We have learnt, however, that the stop motion and use of props aren’t

necessarily a bad thing.

However, audience research isn’t always helpful or even reliable. Sometimes the whole process allows for results to vary from what

they really should be. Often, people may see anonymous participation as an opportunity to mess around or be unhelpful.

Fortunately, we only encountered unhelpful comments briefly whereby someone stated the actors we used were “weird”. Although, this didn’t alter our overall view of the video

as we went on to receive contrasting comments to this.

Furthermore, the use of online anonymous surveys may not be 100% helpful as they could appear to be too directed. Closed questions don’t allow for the participant to elaborate on what they are trying to say and it is often criticised that they are

“too directed”.
