ADRENALINERyan Hanssens
Adrenaline is very shy and is rarely seen but when it does come out of its “crib”(adrenal gland) it makes everything very exciting.
It has a nickname of Epinephrine
Adrenaline consists of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen
Its chemical formula is C9H13NO3
It contains 3 hydroxyl groups and 1 amino group
Adrenaline loves to hang out in the adrenal glands by the kidneys and only comes out once in a while but when it does, it makes everything more enjoyable
After it wears off some people get very light headed, sick, and get headaches
Adrenaline is a hormone and neurotransmitter
Functions of neurotransmitters – activate the receptor which needs to do the action
Functions of hormones- help the body adjust to the environment the body is in
Adrenaline helps the body respond to sudden stress
increases the strength and rate of the heartbeat and raises the blood pressure
I am a good parent to adrenaline because it has helped me with situations in sports and physical confrontations
