Welcome to The Lodge...The Lodge at Freeland House, on the outskirts of Oxford, is a Dementia Home offering residential and respite care.
Freeland House was built in 1807 by Sir William Ellis Taunton and the main house still retains some of its original Victorian features. The Lodge is a brand new modern design which complements Freeland House and is bright and welcoming, and built to be completely dementia friendly.
Our home offers a supportive and comfortable environment, and we are very proud of our homely and welcoming atmosphere. You are very welcome to visit, so you can see the high standard of care we have to offer for each individual, and experience what life is like here.

Your Surroundings...Our communal spaces are spacious, and include dining rooms, lounges, a café, a cinema room, a reflection room and a spacious atrium to meet for chats and refreshments. All rooms have superb views over our gardens and the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
On the lower level, we have the Cinema, Cafe/Reflection Room, and the Atrium Dining Room. The Garden Lounge has direct access into our secure garden, where our residents can enjoy a walk, or just sit and take in the views. On the upper-level we have the Willow Dining Room, and our Woodland Lounge has access to a Garden Terrace. Staff are on hand to assist and escort when required, or simply to stroll and enjoy the grounds with you.
Our seating areas around the atriums, in the grounds and terraces make these ideal places to sit and socialise and invite family and friends when they visit.
Food for Thought...We have 2 dining rooms in The Lodge, The Atrium Dining room on the lower level, and Willow Dining room, on the upper level. Our tables are laid with fresh linen, and our menus are on display to show the menu choices available. Residents are encouraged to eat in the dining rooms, however we have the Atrium space, or if preferred, residents can eat in their own rooms.
We encourage family and friends to join us at meal times, by booking in advance for lunchtime, but are welcome anytime for morning coffee or afternoon tea. We also cater for special celebrations for our residents.
Our main meals are produced by Apetito, which provides nutritionally balanced meals, made from high quality ingredients. Residents can have input into the menus, to ensure cultural and personal preferences are considered, whilst achieving a balanced and nutritious diet. The main meal of the day is lunch, with a lighter meal served in the evening. Snacks, fresh fruit and refreshment are available at all times.

A restful night...The Lodge is registered for 46 residents all rooms are large and airy with en-suite wet-rooms.
Our rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished with a wardrobe, chest of draws, reclining armchair and bedside table.
There is a 24-hour nurse call bell in the bedroom and en-suite. All our bedrooms have views over the grounds with mature trees. Some of the rooms on the lower level have patio doors, which lead directly on to the gardens.
You can choose to personalise your room with your favorite possessions, furniture and pictures if you wish to do so.
Keeping Active...To ensure our residents feel at home, we have a wide range of activities to choose from.
Our full time activity team will organise activities tailored to our residents preferences. These include Arts and Crafts, quizzes, reminiscence activities and live entertainment.
All activities are completely optional, but for those who wish to join in, a programme is displayed in prominent areas of the home and within our regular Newsletter.
The perfect locationWe are situated in the friendly village of Freeland, 5 miles from Witney, and 11 miles from the center of Oxford. Set on the edge of the Cotswolds, within beautiful grounds, and views over the stunning Oxfordshire countryside.
Locally we have Church of England Churches, and Methodist chapels. The Yeoman pub is a few minutes walk away from the home, and is welcoming with a pleasant atmosphere.
What else can we offer? Newspapers and Magazines can be ordered and delivered on request. We have a visiting qualified Chiropodist, Physiotherapist, Optician, Dentist and residents can keep their own GP (if local).
We have a fellowship group led by our local church and communion is held monthly. Pets welcome by prior arrangement, and visitors welcome at anytime. We have our own Salon with a nail bar and a hairdresser.

How to find us From A40 Oxford to Cheltenham: Turn right onto Cuckoo Lane and follow the road straight into Freeland village, go up the hill and bear left. Take the first left, sign posted Freeland House. Follow the drive to the end. From Witney: Follow the signs to Long Hanborough/Woodstock A4095 on the Witney Road. Follow the sign for Freeland and turn right into the village until you see the home sign.
