I.GENERALSTATEMENT

1. TheseTermsandConditionsserveasabindingcontractbetweentheEuropeanBoardofRadiology(EBR)andthecandidateoftheEuropeanDiplomainRadiology(EDiR)examination.

2. AllcandidatesmustfamiliarisethemselveswiththeTermsandConditionsbeforeapplyingfortheEDiRexam.

3. Bypayingtheexaminationfee,EDiRcandidatesagreetotheseTermsandConditions.

4. TheEBRreservestherighttomakethefinaldecisioninallmattersrelatingtotheEuropeanDiplomainRadiology,includingthefinaldecisionontheselectionofcandidates.


II.ELIGIBILITYCRITERIA

5. Candidatesmustmeetthefollowingeligibilitycriteriainordertosittheexamination:Candidatesmustbecertifiedradiologistsorbeinatleasttheirfifthyearofnationalradiologytrainingatthetimeoftheexamination.Incaseswherethelengthofthenationalradiologytrainingprogrammeislessthanfiveyears,experienceasasupervisedstaffradiologistwillbeconsidered.Thetotalamountoftrainingandsupervisedpracticalexperiencemustbemorethanfouryearsatthetimeofapplication.

6. Thefinaldecisiononacandidate’sadmissionwillbemadebytheEuropeanBoardofRadiologyonacase-by-casebasis.

7. Ifanapplicantcannotmeetallentrycriteriabytheapplicationdeadline,theirregistrationfortheexaminationwillnotbeprocessed.


III.REQUIREDDOCUMENTATION

8. ThefollowingdocumentsmustbesubmittedandreceivedbytheEBRofficebytheapplicationdeadlinegiven:

a. Aproofoftrainingindicatingthedurationofradiologytrainingandexpecteddateofcompletion(ifnotcompleted)issuedbythetraininginstitution.

b. Incaseswherethedurationofthetrainingprogrammeislessthanfiveyears,aproofofexperienceasasupervisedstaffradiologistisrequired.

c. Aproofofprofessionprovidedbythecurrentemployinghospital/institution(forcorrespondingmembersonly).

d. Ascannedcopyofthecandidate’spassport.9. CompleteddocumentsshouldbeprovidedinEnglish.10. Candidatesareresponsibleforthevalidityofalldocumentsandthe

applicationdata.


IV.APPLICATIONDEADLINES

11. Theapplicationprocesswillbeclosedfourweeksbeforetheexaminationdateoroncetherearenomoreplacesavailable.

12. Allrequireddocumentationmustbesubmittedandreceivedbytheendoftheapplicationdeadline.

13. Eachapplicantwillbenotifiedwhethertheirapplicationhasbeenacceptedtwoweeksaftertheapplicationdeadlineatthelatest.

V.EXAMINATIONFEES

14. Theexaminationfeeisthetotalamounttobepaidbythemember,includingtheapplicabletaxes.ThefeesfortheEuropeanDiplomainRadiology(EDiR)examinationare:

a. €500forfullESRmembersandESRmembersintraining.b. €1,100forcorrespondingESRmembers.

VI.PAYMENTPOLICY

15. Fullpaymentmustbereceivedbytheendoftheapplicationdeadline.16. Onlyapplicationsforwhichfullpaymenthasbeenreceivedwillbe

accepted.17. Norefundscanbeprovidedifanapplicantwithdrawstheirapplication,

ordoesnotattendtheexamination.18. Ifanapplicantisunabletoattendtheexaminationduetoajustified

causeofforcemajeure,theEBRwillchargeafeeforre-assigningthecandidatetoadifferentexaminationdate.

19. Itistheultimatelycandidate’sresponsibilitytoensurethattheymeettherequirementsconcerningentrytoanyparticularcountryforattendanceattheEDiRexamination.TheEBRhasnocontrolandcannotacceptanyresponsibilityforthismatter.Therefore,ifavisaisrequired,goodpreparationinadvanceisrecommended.Thecandidatemustconsidercarefullywhetherthereisapossibilitythevisaapplicationwillberejectedornotprocessedintime.Examinationfeesarenotrefundedifnotificationofwithdrawalisreceivedaftertheapplicationclosingdate.


VII.EXAMINATION

20. Theexaminationwilltakeplaceaccordingtotheschedule,exceptincircumstancesbeyondtheEBR’scontrol.

21. EDiRexaminationshavealimitednumberofplaces.TheEBRdoesnotofferwaitinglists.Examinationplacesareassignedaccordingtothe"first-comefirst-served"principle.

22. TheEBRdoesnottolerateanyformofacademicdishonesty.23. Sharinganyexaminationcontent,suchasquestionsandcases,with

futurecandidatesisstrictlyforbidden.24. CandidatesmustfollowtheinstructionsoftheEBRstaffatalltimes.25. Candidateswillreceivetheexaminationguidelinesandinstructionsprior

totheexamination.Failuretocomplywillresultinthecandidate’sdisqualificationfromtheexaminationandexclusionfromallfutureexaminationsoftheEBR.


VIII.EXAMINATIONSTRUCTURE

26. Theexaminationwilltakeplaceinoneday.Ittestsknowledge,skillsandcompetenciesingeneralradiologyinthreecomponents:• Multipleresponsequestions(MRQs):Computer-basedexamination

(90minutes).• Shortcases(SCs):Computer-basedexamination(90minutes).• ClinicallyOrientedReasoningEvaluation(CORE):Practical-oriented

cases.Computer-basedexamination(90minutes).

IX.EXAMINATIONLANGUAGES

27. TheEDiRexaminationwillbeinEnglish.

X.SCORING

28.Themultipleresponsequestionsandthequestionswithintheshortcasescanbeintheformofanyofthefollowingtypes:

a. Multiplechoicequestion:Thereisonlyonecorrectanswer.• Scoring:Wrong–Correct:0%or100%

b. Multipleresponsequestion:Thereareoneormorecorrectanswers.• Scoring: Proportionalscoringaccordingtothefollowingformula:

29.Thescoringiscomputedasfollows:

Part1 = 0.3xSCs_ Score+ 0.7xMRQs_ Score

Part2 =CORE _ Score

a. SCs_Score:Meanofthescoresobtainedineachshortcase.Eachshortcaseisscoredfrom0%to100%.Eachshortcaseisscoredcomputingtheaveragescoreofallthequestionswithineachcorrespondingshortcase.

b. MRQs_Score:Meanofthescoresobtainedineachmultipleresponsequestion.EachMRQisscoredfrom0%to100%.

c. CORE_Score:MeanofthescoresobtainedineachCOREcase.EachCOREcasewillbegradedbytheassignedexaminerwith-2,-1,+1or+2.TheexaminerswillhavethepossibilitytogradesomeoftheCOREcaseswithunsafe.

d. Theunsafescorewillbeassignedwhentheanswerinvolvesacatastrophicerror(anerrorofobservation,interpretationormanagement)withmajorimpactonthepatient.

29.ThepassmarkofPart1andPart2iscomputedasfollows:

Pass_mark(PartX ) =Mean(PartX )− 0.5x(Standard _Deviation(PartX ))

30.Inordertopasspart1,thescoreinthisparthastobegreaterorequalthan

thepassmarkinthispart.

31.Inordertopasspart2,thecandidatehastofulfilltheminimumcriteria(see

paragrahp32)toobtainagreaterorequalscoretothepassmarkinthispart.


32.Theminimumcriteriatopasspart2isasfollows:• Thecandidatehastocompleteallthecasesshown• Atleast50%ofthecaseshavetobepositive.• Thecandidatewillfailifanyofthesesituationsoccur:

o Thecandidatehastwocaseswithanunsafescore.o Thecandidatehasonecasewithanunsafescoreandone

casewitha-2.

33.InordertopasstheEDiRexaminationcandidatesmustpasseachpartoftheexamination.

34.Finalresultsshallbegiventocandidatesinaresultsreportand,inanycase,shallnotbepublishedforallcandidatesbutindividually.Theresultsreportincludesthecandidate’soverallscoreanddetailedresultsincomparisonwiththeaverageresult.

XI.DATAPROTECTIONANDPRIVACY

39. InaccordancewiththeSpanishDataProtectionRegulation(Law

15/1999ofDecember15,onPersonalDataProtection),thepersonaldatacollectedbytheEBRwillbeincorporatedintoafiledischargedbeforetheSpanishDataProtectionAgency.

40. CandidatesallowtheEBRtostoretheirpersonaldata.TheEBRshallnotusesuchpersonaldataforpurposesotherthanthoserelatedtotheEDiRexamination.

41. Candidatesmayexercisetheiraccess,rectification,cancellationandoppositionrights.Theexerciseoftheserightsmustbemadeinwriting,[email protected].


XII.AWARDOFTHEEDiRCERTIFICATE

42. EDiRcertificateswillonlybeawardedtosuccessfulcandidateswho:a. Arefullylicensedandinactivepracticeastrainedradiologists(ESR

fullmembershiporcorrespondingmembershiprequired)OR

b. Havecompletedradiologytraining,withaminimumdurationoffiveyears,inanationallyaccreditedprogramme.Incaseswheretherelevanttrainingprogrammeislessthanfiveyears,creditforexperienceasasupervisedstaffradiologistwillbeconsidered.(Thetotaloftrainingandsupervisedpracticalexperiencemustbefiveyearsormore.)

c. AreESRactivemembersintheexaminationyear.

43. ThefollowingdocumentsmustbesubmittedtotheEBRofficeeitherduringtheapplicationprocessor,ifnotimmediatelyavailable,aftertheexamination,inordertoreceivetheEDiRcertificate:

d. Up-to-dateproofoflicencetopractiseinradiologyfromtheofficialnationalregistrationbody(forcorrespondingmembersandprivatepractitionersonly).

e. ACertificateofCompletionofTraining(CCT)fromanofficialnationalregistrationbodyortraininginstitutionindicatingaminimumoffiveyearsofradiologytraining.IfthetraininghasnotbeencompletedbeforetheEDiRexaminationistaken,thentheCCTmaybeprovidedaftercompletionoftraining.

f. AproofofmembershipoftheESR.


XIII.APPEALSPROCESS

GeneralTerms

44. Regardingpart1(MRQsandshortcases),appealscanonlybemadeifthereisatechnicalproblemduringthetest.

45. Regardingpart2(CORE),appealscanonlybemadeifcandidatesmeetthefollowingcriteria:

- Thecandidatefulfillstheminimumcriteria.- Thecandidatehascompletedthe10cases.

Appealscannotbemaderegardingthecontentoftheexamination.

46. TheAppealsCommissionshallbecomposedofthreemembersco-optedbytheEBR.ThemembersshallincludeoneappointeefromtheESREducationCommittee,withrecognisedexpertiseinEuropeaneducationalstandards;oneappointeefromtheESRNationalSocietiesCommittee;andthecurrentEDiRScientificDirector.TheAppealsCommissionhastherighttoreceiveevidencefromnominatedexpertsorwitnesses.

47. TheAppealsCommission’sdecisionsarefinalandarenotsubjecttoreviewbytheEBR.

48. Ifacommissionrulesinfavourofacandidate,nocostswillbeincurredbythecandidate.IfitrulesinfavouroftheofficialEBRexaminationresult,costsinrelationtotheenquiryshallbebornebythecandidate.


ProceduretoinitiateanappealprocessTheappealprocedurewilldependonthepartoftheexaminationthatisthesubjectoftheappeal.49. Candidatesmayonlyappealinrelationtothetechnicalaspectsofthe

examination.Noappealmaybemadeinrelationtothecontent.Appealscanonlyberequestedupto10daysaftertheexaminationresultshavebeensent.

XIV.POLICYONREPEATEXAMINATIONS

50. Anoverallpassinggradecanonlybeachievedbypassingeachpartoftheexamination.

51. AnEDiRcertificatewillonlybeawardedtocandidateswhopasstheEDiRexaminationandmeetalloftheeligibilitycriteria.

52. Candidateswhofailtheexammustre-sittheentireexaminationinordertoreceivetheEDiRcertificate.Resultsfromthepreviousexamwillnotbeconsidered.
