sh@rebox
Sunday, May 12, 13
Sh@rebox is a collaborative consumption product that allows residents in a community to lend, borrow, or trade items with each other via a smart locker system. It has a physical element, a set of modular storage lockers, where people make the exchanges and a tech platform that manages the inventory and makes the process quick and easy.
Sunday, May 12, 13
In essence, Sharebox exists to helps people make better use of what they already have so that they don’t need to keep all sorts of stuff in their homes. This means that they can take up less space. It also helps people get access to the things they need sooner, which means they’ll be less tempted to just drive to the store to get it.

SH@REBOX APPLICATION PLATFORM
The sh@rebox application consists of the following functionality:
• INVENTORY MONITOR
• A digital scale within each locker unit allows the owners to track the status of their items.
• Any locker activity is transmitted wirelessly to the sh@rebox server and is accessible via a users sh@rebox account online or through the mobile app.
• RENTAL PERIOD MANAGEMENT
• The sh@rebox application software enables users to establish rental timeframes with the borrower as they see fit.
• Any time outside of the agreed upon rental window will prompt an automated reminder message to the borrower asking when they expect to have the item returned. This will then be sent to the owner to set expectations accordingly.
• REMOTE ACCESSIBILITY AND COMMUNICATION
• Locker access can be granted at any given time through the sh@rebox app.
• Once an individual requests to borrow an item, the owner of that specific item receives a "borrow request" notification. If the owner agrees, an access code is sent to the borrower.
• Automated two-way communication prompts enable a quick exchange of info between parties.
• Virtually no interaction is required for the transaction to take place, and users can set their desired communication preferences within their account settings.
