It takes too long to say, “doub le ‘v ’ or somet imes doub le ‘u ’ , ” so i t i s a good th ing that we shorten the name to ”doub le ‘u ’ . ”

However you wr ite i t , the letter ‘w’ says the same th ing - “wuh . ”

To remember th is letter, th inkof water or waves :

Refresher ( if needed): Most of the t ime, the letter ‘w’ looks l ike a doub le-vee: two letter ‘v ’s jo ined together.
