On behalf of the Wayne Trace Board ofEducaon, congratulaons go out to theseventy-nine members of the Wayne TraceClass of 2015. High school graduaon hasalways been an important rite-of-passage in

our great country, and the next severalyears following graduaon are crical yearsin the lives of our young adults. As noted inlast month’s newsleer, thousands of jobs

just in the state of Ohio are currentlyunlled due to a lack of properly trained andskilled employees. Many of these jobsrequire employees who have advancedcomputer skills, making it crical that menand women acquire the skills and trainingneeded to compete for these posions. Thisyear’s graduates will have the opportuniesover the next several years to get the skillsand training needed to ll these demanding, and oen mes high-salary posions. Withthat said, let’s all do our very best toencourage our young people to pursuehigher educaon and to take this oppor -tunity very seriously. College students whoaend class on a regular basis are muchmore likely to earn a degree and developthe skills needed to be gainfully employedfor years to come.

Speaking of computer use, we are nishingup our rst year of the 1:1 program at theJH/HS and our rst year of having a com -puter available for nearly all elementarystudents on a daily basis. Many thanks goout to our technology department, underthe leadership of Mr. Jerry Hessel and Mrs.JoEllen Sisson, for their diligent work inhelping to make this happen in our schooldistrict in a relavely short period of me.Technology connues to move at lightningspeed, and we are doing our best to moveour students along at the current pace. Likeall decisions, we will constantly evaluate the

eecveness of our technology program sothat our students remain compeve infuture school years.

In further curriculum news, we are verypleased to announce that our on-line learn-ing lab, housed in the JH/HS building, willbegin its third year next fall. Under thedirecon of Mr. Dave Alt, this program is anavailable alternate path for earning highschool credits in a nontradional format. This program is also an available alternatepath for earning college credits withoutstepping foot on a college campus. In thelab’s rst two years, we have averaged closeto twenty college-bound juniors and seniorstaking over thirty on-line, college-levelcourses through the on-line lab. Severalcollege credits have been earned by our

students while remaining in the safe con-nes of our brick and mortar building. Inaddion to earning high school and collegecredits, other available courses through thisformat include ACT prep classes, creditrecovery classes, AP classes, and perhapseven summer school and other make-upcourses. Students enrolled in this programare full-edged Wayne Trace students whoare, or could become, eligible forco-curricular and extra-curricular acvies.Students and parents interested in thisopon are encouraged to contact Mr. Alt inthe high school oce.

Congratulaons go out to our performingarts department for several nice concerts toclose the school year. Band and choirconcerts at the JH/HS, along with spring

programs at our elementary schools, allbrought out very nice crowds. DirectorsMiss Sharon Spinner, Miss LouiseVranesevic, and Mrs. Ann Wieland, alongwith musical accompanist Mrs. JoniWenninger, connue to bring ne musiceducaon to our students. Thanks also goout to the Wayne Trace Performing ArtsAssociaon for their connued nancialassistance in the areas of music, perfor-mance, and drama.

In calendar news, we are sll on track forJune 4 to be the nal day of school forstudents in grades PK-11, with a two-hourearly dismissal planned for that day. How-ever, in the event that we have anotherweather-related delay and/or cancellaon, this plan could change. Should that happen,

we will do our best to be sure you know thenew plan in a mely manner.

In closing, I’d like to express my gratudeto the Wayne Trace community for what Ibelieve has been another excellent yearserving as your superintendent. Educangour young people and teaching them tobecome producve cizens is a team eortwith constant communicaon neededbetween school and home. For our young

people to be successful, everyone mustwork together for the same goal.

As always, if you have quesons orconcerns about your child’s educaonalexperience at Wayne Trace, feel free tocontact your building principal or superin-tendent.

    WT GROVER HILL ELEMENTARY

    Kevin Wilson, Principal

As we approach the end of the 2014-2015

school year, I would like to thank the sta, parents and students for a very successfulschool year. This year we set several goalsand we feel that we met our goals or insome cases we exceeded them. With theend of the school year we are already look-ing toward next year. At this me we arediscussing the goals for the 2015-2016school year.

Next, I would like to extend a big ThankYou to several people. The Grover Hill PTOis the rst organizaon that I need to thank. As I look back at everything this organizaonhas done for the Grover Hill student I muststart with last fall. Before the school yearbegan they organized a large number ofhelpers to replenish the Fibar on the play-ground. Then during the Christmas program

the PTO held their annual bake sale andaucon. With the proceeds from this fund-raiser they purchased benches and picnicblankets for the courtyard and covered thecost for several assemblies. Then, to endthe year the PTO sponsored and ran theannual Carnival Day. As you can see thePTO plays a big role in caring for the GroverHill students. Secondly, I would like torecognize the parent volunteers. This yearwe were able to nd a group of volunteersto work with students who were in need ofa lile extra math assistance. This year’sgoal was to help all students master theirmath facts. This group of parent volunteerswas willing to come in and help the studentachieve this goal. It is great to be in acommunity with people so willing to help

    today’s children and tomorrows leaderssucceed.

As this year ends, the WTGH sta is alsopreparing for next year. Watch the Augustnewsleer or WTGH web-site for any infor-maon pertaining to the 2015-2016 schoolyear. To assist you in helping your studentprepare for next year we have placed theschool supply list on the web-site.

The GH sta, students, and I want to wishMrs. Mary McVay a very happy and enjoy-able rerement. Mrs. McVay spent 23 yearsserving the Wayne Trace school district.During these past 23 years Mrs. McVay hashad a posive inuence on many younglives. Mrs. McVay’s professionalism andstrong desire to see all students succeed willbe hard to replace. On behalf of the sta

and students I want to let Mrs. McVay knowhow much she has been appreciated andalso that she will be greatly missed. Again, thank you Mrs. McVay for 23 wonderfulyears!

In closing, I would like to wish thestudents, sta and community a very enjoy-able and safe summer break.

    WT JR./SR. HIGH SCHOOL

    Greg Leeth, Principal

It is hard to believe that the 2014-2015school year has come to a close. Seventy -nine young men and women have ociallybecome alumni of Wayne Trace High Schoolfollowing their graduaon on May 24. I wisheach of the graduates the very best of luck,

and I look forward to welcoming studentsback for the 2015-2016 school year, but onlyaer a nice respite called summer vacaon!

As always, I appreciate the support theWayne Trace community has given ourstudents and sta.

I also want to publicly commend theteaching sta for their paence, exibility, and hard work this past year. The teachingprofession has undergone radical changes inthe last two years, and Wayne Trace Jr./Sr.

High School teachers proved their ability toadapt to changing working condions. The2014-2015 school year saw teachers evalu-ated in a completely dierent way; theirevaluaons were based on two parts, per-formance observaons and on studentgrowth measures. In addion, teachersworked diligently to prepare students formuch more rigorous state tests in math, social studies, science, and language arts, allof which were administered online. Educa-on will connue to evolve, and I believethe sta at Wayne Trace are willing and ableto make necessary changes.

This summer, custodians will be hard atwork on a number of building improvementprojects. We connue to upgrade the tech-nology in our building and have replaced the

projector and screen in the lecture hall witha 75” at screen TV/monitor that connectsto our server. We also plan to remodel andredecorate the lecture hall with paint, newcarpeng, and new furniture. The juniorhigh gym will have major renovaons as anew oor and paint are planned at this me.Other improvements to the junior high gymmay follow. Other areas of the building willreceive an intense cleaning and renishing.

Lastly, I want to thank all those who workbehind the scenes: bus drivers, transporta-on director, bus mechanic, cooks, studyhall monitors, secretaries, paraprofession-als, and grounds-keepers. The success of ourstudents is dependent upon each of usdoing our jobs daily; I appreciate your com-mitment to doing the best you can for

Wayne Trace students.Again, we had a fantasc 2014-2015

school year, and we eagerly ancipatehaving an even beer year in 2015-2016.

    Enjoy the summer!
