William Heikkinen reports sporting and academic success at Brown University
William Heikkinen, a star football player and student at Brown University, has reported both
sporting and academic achievement at the Ivy League school. The star player has stated
specifically that he has already seen great success with the Brown Bears during his first two
seasons with the team.
William Heikkinen, a star football player and student at Brown University, has reported both sporting
and academic achievement at the Ivy League school. When he was recruited by Brown, it was made
known by Brown Bears coach Phil Estes that football players require a ‘toughness’ as a top priority.
This is considered important as the sporting and academic demands on student players at Brown
University are high, and to excel at both students need to be exceptionally resilient.
This ‘toughness’ is one of the reasons why William has become so popular in Brown in very less time,
as both fellow teammates and students have remarked on his ability to effectively balance the
demands of his studies and his role as a player for the Brown Bears. The challenge, however, is
something that Heikkinen has thrived upon, repeating the success he achieved at Andover High
School, where he was not only a star athlete, but also consistently made the Honor Roll every term
and also found the time to volunteer within the community.
“I am really pleased to be making progress both in football and my academic studies at Brown
University,” stated William Heikkinen, “The school offers the chance to gain the skills and experience
I need to succeed both on and off the football field, and it is really important to me that I take the
opportunity with both hands and make the most of it.”
William Heikkinen made the choice to continue his studies at Brown University after an exceptional
high school football career that saw him break several school records and impress teammates and
the local media alike. William was so impressive that he was named Student Athlete of the Month by
Andover’s Eagle Tribune, and was also named First Team All-State by the Boston Herald and the
Boston Globe. In addition to this, William was a two-time Merrimack Valley Conference All-Star.
His athletic ability is one of the reasons why William has become so popular in Brown in very less
time, bringing his impressive football skills to support the Brown Bears team and help lead them to
victory. Although William received offers from both Harvard and Princeton, Brown University was
the only school that truly interested Heikkinen, with its track record of producing great professional
football players and its high standard of education.
Although the demands on student football players at Brown University are high, William Heikkinen
has proven that he can successfully rise to the challenge, and is currently continuing to develop the
skills and attitude he needs for both success on the field and the high academic achievement that he
has always strived for.
