Dearfriends,
ManyofyouhaveaskedwhyIamrunningforgovernorofWisconsin,which
isaveryvalidquestion.
Iwillendeavortoanswerit.
WhyIamchoosingtorunforgovernor:
1.
Iamableto.NotonlyamIeligibleforcandidacy,butalsoIhavetheintegrity,honesty,andconfidencetorunacleanandopencampaign.
2.
Thecurrentgovernorisnotperformingadequately.Mr.WalkerandIhaveknowneachotherformanyyears,andIcanrespecthimforafewthingssuch
ashisservicetoboyscoutsandveterans,butIcannotrespectmanyofthedecisionshehasmadeasgovernor.Whileheistryingtohelpthestate,his
methodoftryingtodosoisarguablyineffective.Notonlyisthestateinabad
positioneconomically(seepoint6.),butMr.Walkerhasviolatedsomebasic
humanrightsbypassinglegislationsuchasthecollectivebargaininglawand
promisingtosignSenatebill206(therecentbillrequiringultrasoundsfor
womenseekingabortions).

Politicsismypassion.(PoliticsandSpace,tobeexact)WhileIfirmlybelievethateveryoneshouldhaveabasicknowledgeofthepoliticaldiscoursegoing
onaroundthem,Ialsobelievethatthosewhohavethepassionforleadership
inpoliticsshouldparticipate.Whichleadsmetothenextpoint

Weneedanothervoice.Thisisademocraticrepublic.Tome,thatmeansthatwemustencourageamultitudeofopinions,andamultitudeofpositions.
Therearesomecoreissueswecanallagreeon,butifyouaregoingtoreflect
thediverseopinionsofpeopleinthisstate,thenyoumustgivethemdiverse
choices.Themorechoicesthepeoplehaveinelections,themorehonestarepresentationofthepeopleschoicethatelectionwillbe.Ergo,havingmore
candidatesfromdifferentpartiesisbetterforthepeople.
5.
AsamemberofthePirateParty,Ihavesomenewissuesanddifferentviewstobringtothetablethanboththetwopartysystemandtheexistingthird
parties.TheseissuesincludeInternetfreedoms,civilrights,governmenttransparency,andprivacyoftheindividual.Asayoungerpolitician,Ican
bringadifferentperspectivetothecapitol,helpingtofindsolutionsoutside
ofthebox.
6.
Fixingtheeconomyneedsanewapproach.WhilethestateofWisconsinisindeedgainingjobs,itisnotbecauseofourcurrentleadership,butinstead
duetotheUSreboundfromthe2008recession.Historically,therefore,this
periodoftimeforthestateiscritical.Theentirecountryjustsawarecession
andisseeingaslowgrowthafterword,butifweinstituteeconomicpolicies

thathelpWisconsinbusinessesbyinvestinginventurecapital,ifwebuilda
strongeconomythatfocusesonmakingsuretheallowancesforcorporations
andtherichthatcreatedtherecessionarenotrepeated,thenWisconsincan
emergefromthisrecessionattheveryleastonparwithitsneighborsifnot
withacompetitiveedge,movingforward.IbelievethatMr.Walkerisnot
goingaboutthistherightway.WhileIamsurehehasthebestinterestsofthestateatheart,hisattemptstofixtheWisconsineconomyseemmorelike
socialpoliciesandhelptolargecorporations,sprinkledwithafewgood
thingsfortheeconomyanddressedupwithabigbowthatsaysjobs.As
governor,Iwouldsuggesttothelegislaturepackagesofeconomicreformsthataresimple,straightforward,andthatfocusonbothclosingloopholesfor
therichandformonopolies,aswellashelpingmiddleandlowerclass
workersandemployers.

Lastly,themorepartymindedreason,IwishtohelpthePiratePartygainballotstatusinthestate.BecauseoftheprinciplesofthePirateParty,Ibelieveitwouldnotonlybebeneficialtothepartybutalsotothepeopleof
thestatetohaveourpartyontheballot.ThiswouldgivethepeopleofWisconsinmorechoices,andhopefullyhelptoeducatethemaboutthePirate
issuesthatwebelievein.Achievingballotstatusinthestaterequireswe
garner1%ofthevoteinastateelection.
IwouldliketoaddressanotherissuethatsomepeoplehaveaskedHowdoIthink
wewilldointheelection?
Honestly,Idontknow.IknowthatinordertofeellikeIdidnotfailmiserably,I
wouldatleastliketogetthe1%forballotstatus.Ideally,Iwouldliketowin.
However,Irecognizetheseverelysmallchancesofthathappening.
Thereisonething,though,thatwehavetokeepinmind:time.Wehavealmostayearandahalftomakethisintowhatwewantittobe.Iam
confidentthatwithyourhelp,wecanchangethetwopartysystemwhichhasso
oftendisappointedus.
