Franciacorta and lake Iseo The gentle hills between the western suburbs o Brescia and thesouthern coast o Lake Iseo are called Franciacorta. The name

ta is the most important italian sparkling wine, the only one to obtain the DOCG certifcati onand worldwide recognition. The best wineriesare run by riendly producers and are locatedin charming historical buildings. It is possible to

Lake Iseo (or Sebino, as the Romans called it)is the 7th largest lake in Italy, and its only one o

    the most charming and romantic.

Torbiere del Sebino (the peat bogs), in the sou- thern part o the lake, is a unique nature reservein Europe: the 2 sqm area boasts several kindso birds and in springtime the ponds are cove-red with thousands o waterlilies. The Piramididi Zone reserve is also an outstanding itinerary,

with its rock pyramids created by water ero-sion. Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Eu-rope, contributes to the magic o the lake.
