If your child has not returned it would be great to see them next week, as this is an opportunity for us to give them their old books, and remaining uncollected reports and for your child to see their friends and their teachers. It is important after being in lockdown that children get the chance to socialize once again. There is no denying school is ‘different’ than usual (and will be for awhile longer) but nevertheless it is ‘different’ with our friends around us. Hopefully we will get to see every child back to school (if only for a day or two !) next week. This week we virtually held our final governors meeting of the year. This was a chance to say goodbye to Mr Nigel Taylor who has sadly decided to step down from being a governor at the school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Taylor for all his hard work during his time as a governor, but also hope he continues to support our PTFA and the school’s allotment which he has done tirelessly over the last few years. As you know, we are busily preparing for a full re-opening in September. The West Country Schools Trust (WEST) have this week published a new Toolkit, which has been posted on the school website for you to read, and step by step we are completing risk assessments and making plans to ensure everything is ready. Thank you to parents who have been dropping off and collecting children using both playgrounds and for sticking to the one- way system. This has really helped limit the number of parents gathering in one place and we welcome any thoughts or feedback regarding this. Full details of re-opening will follow next week, but in brief: From September we are planning for ALL pupils to return as normal, at the normal time 8:50am. Years 1-6 will start on Thursday 3rd September. Foundation pupils will start 8:50-12noon on Monday 7th September. Pupils will be expected to wear school uniform. The school kitchen will be back open and offering a hot meal. A recovery curriculum will be in place, with lots of reading, lots of talking and lots of learning! Next week will be the final week for our Year 6’s. This year it has been considerably different for them, but despite circumstances we hope to give them a memorable send off, albeit not the same as previous years. Nevertheless, we wish them all, the best of luck for the future and the next chapter in their life’s journey.. Remember: “If you dream it, you can achieve it. Now go out and change the world.” I am delighted to see some great post lockdown hair cuts this week. (this has included the males in the Tustain household!) Look at our gorgeous Lucas! Hopefully this means that we are working towards a new version of ‘normal’ and summer is on it’s way! Stay safe everyone, keep alert and look after each other. Mrs Tustain

Message from Primary Times Plymouth & Devon

We have distributed Primary Times Plymouth to your families for a number of years now, the aim being to provide details of all the fun, exciting and educational events going on locally during the summer holidays.

This year, things being as they are, we are unable to do so. Instead for the summer we would like to offer parents links to virtual things to do and learning for children. The contributors will all be from the local community and economy. The idea being to offer a regular update and refreshed information throughout the summer as and when we receive it.

Calling all Year 2 Parents - Universal Free School Meal Entitlement

You should have received a letter by email advising you that once your child moves up to year 3 and into Key Stage 2, their entitlement to a Universal Free School Meal will end.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits, you may be eligible to claim Free School Meals.

You can check if you are eligible by using the free, quick and easy online checker:

https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/schoolseducationchildcareskillsandemployability/schoolmeals%20

It is very important that you submit the online form as soon as possible, to ensure your eligibility is confirmed before the 3rd September as entitlement is classed as active from the date of application and sadly cannot be back dated.

If you have not received a copy of the letter, please contact the school office.

Thank you.

NHS Numbers for Swabs

We have been asked by local health partners, to make you aware, in order to support the rapid turnaround and accuracy of a Covid-19 test that it would really help if NHS numbers are provided for both parents and children who may need to take a test.

Unfortunately schools do not have this information, but it may be worth finding these numbers and keeping them somewhere safe and easily to hand, just in case you need it. Thank you
