•Start the PowerPoint presentation. You will hear the word ‘salutations’ as you play the first slide. To hear the word again click on the icon in the top left hand corner. Tell the children that the word means ‘greetings’.

•Page 3 - the sounds will be introduced one at a time as you click the mouse (or use the arrow keys on the keyboard). To hear the word again click on the sound icon next to the text. You can do this either before or after all five phrases have appeared. Ask the pupils to repeat the sounds. •Explain that the pictures are used to represent the words, so when they see the cockerel they know it means ‘Good morning’. •Play each sound several times and explain that there are actions to go with the words. This form of learning is called ‘TPR’ - Total Physical Response. Actions enforce meaning.

and actions. Play it as many times as necessary for the children

to become confident.

word will also appear.

•Page 7 – play the rap again, this time with the words for the

pupils to read. The pupils join in with words and actions. The

three skills of reading, listening and speaking are all now being

practised through the medium of a catchy rap.
