Be in prayer for all our churches as they are prepar- ing for vacation Bible school. I encourage folks to attend and support the church or churches in your community. I was sad about the Laurel Leader Call. Their doors were closed, but God opened another door. We welcome the new paper, The Chronicle. The paper hired back all the folks who had lost their jobs. The prayer list includes: Melba West, Ollie and Rod Herrington, Billye Pitts, Lily Hayes, Larry Ford, Loy May Walters, Shirley McIntosh,Lamar and Faye Craven, Harry Holder, Evelyn Davis, Francis Lewis, Vir- gie Roberts, Elaine Logan, Pat McKee, Pete Bankston, Randy Pitts, Stub and Ann West, Christine Rigney, Kathy and Wesley McCurley, Calvin Beard, Ella Boyles, Curley and Virginia Gainous, Charles and Joe Tiner, Bea Jones, Jean Roney, L.J. West, Hurbert Hulsey, Pamala Napp, and Ally Fulkerson. Bible Study: “God’s unfail- ing love.” Read Hosea 10:9- 15. This old testament book is the story of God’s faithful love for his unfaithful people. Yet in the midst of their sin and punishment, the Grace of God toward His people was never exhausted. Even when we have “plowed wickedness” and reaped iniquity, God does not stop loving us. Whatever our situation, today we can turn to the Lord and find forgiveness to make a new start. God’s love never fails. No force is greater than the power of God’s love. From the Kitchen: “Sweet Potato Souffle.” You’ll need two cups of sieved sweet potatoes, one stick of melted margarine, two eggs, 1/3 cup of milk, and one cup of sugar. Mix all of the ingredients well. Pour into a casserole dish. Set aside. Topping: one cup of brown sugar, 1/3 cup of self-rising flour, 1/3 cup of soft margarine. Mix topping ingredients and pour into the casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 min- utes. (Some folks like to add pecans and coconuts with the topping.) The SimpliciTy of WorShip The imporTance of WorShip Anything we truly love, we will surely invest our time, energy, and attention into it. Let’s be real. There are many different things that we love, adore, enjoy, and take pleasure in. There’s nothing wrong with en- joying things of and in life, and the blessings (natural, physical, mate- rial, and spiritual) of and from God. However, when we are giving them more time, energy, and at- tention than we are giving to God, we end up idolizing those things. It’s not even a difficult or compli- cated thing for us to do; it’s very easy! Many times we are doing this and nobody had to force us to do it. We do it because we want to. The question in this devotion is not whether we are going to worship or not, but rather who or what will it be. Worshipping God is plainly and simply expressing with your heart, mind, soul, and life that you love, adore, honor, and take pleasure in Him above, beyond, and more than anything and anyone else, even yourself! You’re saying in submis- sion, surrender, and sacrifice, “Here I am, take my life, I give myself away to You, Lord.” We need to wor- ship him because it is our desire, we want to do it, and because He is God. Don’t ever make worshipping God a difficult thing, but make and keep it simple. Today He is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Scripture of the day: “Hear, O Israel!
