Artist with disability finds healing through painting
Stasia is a person living with a disability. Using a wheelchair to get around and acommunication device to speak, Stasia never allows her disabilities to stop herfrom following her dreams. She is a graduate of Oconomowoc High School andthe University of Wisconsin‐Whitewater with a bachelor's degree in art.
The school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut onDecember 14, 2012 that left 20 children and six adults dead had a deep impacton the artist. Feeling a need to memorialize the victims and to express heremotions, Stasia turned to art to heal. "I was moved to make the Sandy Hookportraits because I could relate to losing loved ones to violence. Even though Icannot imagine the pain of losing a child," said Stasia.
