Queridos Feligreses,
verdadera, concede a quienes hemos conoci-
cielo (gaudiis perfruamur in caelo)."
Padre David. Padre Amado.
Dear Parishioners,
In a few hours, we will begin the cele-
bration of the Nativity of the Lord. The
opening prayer (collect) for the Mass
composed by Pope Saint Leo the
Great in Rome in the fifth century is in
use continuously in the Church from
then until now.
“O God who have made this most sa-
cred night radiant with the splendor of
true light, grant, we pray, that we, who
have known the mysteries of his light
on earth, may also delight in his glad-
ness in heaven (gaudiis perfruamur in
caelo).”
The connection that we have with the
centuries of saints who have gone
before us translates into the connec-
tion we have with our families and
memories of Christmas past. This
time of year, that we call the holiday
season, has a strong emotional cur-
rent as we undoubtedly reflect upon
our lives and what is to come in the New Year. It is good for
us to mingle gratitude with forgiveness and joy with under-
standing so that we will be present in a meaningful way to our
loved ones and all those around us.
I have included a photo from my childhood 1965. My sisters,
Barbara, Mary and I are posing for the moment around our
glorious silver Christmas tree! I can be sure that our parents,
David and Ann, encouraged us to “stand still for the pic-
ture” (remember the blue flash bulbs!) so we could open our
presents immediately after!
A blessed Christmas to you and all those whom you hold
dear always!
Your priests,
Father David.
Father Amado.

YEAR OF REPARATION/AÑO DE REPARACIÓN Our Lady of Reparation
Immaculate Virgin, refuge of sinners, in order to atone for the
injuries done to Almighty God and the evil inflicted on humanity by
sin, you accepted with resignation the death of your divine Son on
the Cross, be ever favorable toward us, and in heaven, where you
reign gloriously, continue in our behalf your work of fervor and love.
We would be your children: show yourself to be our Mother.
Obtain from Jesus, our divine Redeemer that he may be pleased
to apply to our souls the fruits of his passion and death, and deliver
us from the bonds of our iniquities.
May he be our light in the midst of darkness, our strength in weak-
ness, our refuge in the midst of danger, may he strengthen us by his
grace and love in this world, and grant us to love him, see him and
possess him in the world to come.
Amen.
(THIS PRAYER WAS COMPOSED AND APPROVED IN 1904 DURING THE PONTIFI-
CATE OF POPE SAINT PIUS X AND CARRIES A PARTIAL INDULGENCE OF 500
DAYS.)
do por venir.
Amen.
(ESTA ORACIÓN FUE COMPUESTA Y APROBADA EN 1904 DURANTE EL PONTIFICADO
DEL PAPA SAN PÍO X Y LLEVA UNA INDULGENCIA PARCIAL DE 500 DÍAS.)
O COME, LONG FORETOLD
O come, Desired of nations,
Whom priest and prophet long foretold
Will break the captive fetters,
Redeem the long-lost fold.
Dear Savior, haste; come, come to
earth,
Dispel the night and show your face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.
—Simon J. Pellegrin (1663-1745), Tr. by Mary of St. Philip (1825-1904)
