RevolutionaryAnti-Ageing Treatment

NEWThe quest for younger looking, firmer, more radiant, line-free skin is a quest we have all undertaken and a road we gladly continue to travel.

The ancient Egyptians were the first to document their attempts to halt the ageing process, noting the effects of certain clays and minerals on the skin, in the hope of warding off wrinkles and remaining eter-nally youthful.

Thankfully science and technol-ogy have come a long way since then and incredible new advances mean that it is possible to not only halt the passage of time but dra-matically rejuvenate the skin, erase lines and wrinkles, eliminate pig-mentation and even encourage the production of new collagen to im-prove skin’s texture and tone; and in so doing, look years younger!

Enter iPixel, the new and revolu-tionary skin resurfacing treatment exclusively available at Therapie Clinics in Northern Ireland. This ground-breaking treatment means that it is now possible to literally turn back the hands of time and look between 10-15 years young-er, critically without having to go under the surgeon’s knife. The treatment is FDA-approved and is quite simply revolutionising the anti-ageing industry and changing how we will approach the ageing process, forever.

Whether you’ve lost that youth-ful glow and are noticing the emergence of the first few lines

and wrinkles or perhaps your skin has much deeper set wrinkles and a great deal of sun damage; no matter where you are in the ageing process, the beauty of this treatment is that it can be tai-lored to suit your individual needs and deliver a complete rejuvena-tion and transformation.

“The most effective and results-driven technology in the world”How does iPixel work?

Unlike topical creams, laser skin resurfacing works deep in the un-derlying tissues to fight those fine lines and wrinkles and the uneven skin tone that often accompanies growing older. The procedure gradually stimulates new cells to replace aged and photo-aged skin, delivering new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of old skin imperfec-tions.

This is the most advanced anti-ageing technology available, with leading dermatologists referring to it as “the most effective and results-driven technology in the world”.

Therapie Clinic has clinics na-tionwide including Belfast, L/Der-ry and Newry and offers free skin consultations. To contact Therapie Clinic phone 08000 121 565. www.therapieclinic.co.uk

Whether belly fat, back fat or abdominal fat, an incred-

ible new treatment exclusive to Therapie Clinic will freeze, break down and eliminate stubborn fat cells by up to 40% after just one treatment. COOLTEC is the new non-invasive treatment that will tackle stubborn fat cells, impervi-ous to diet and exercise and help you achieve the perfect body.

How does it work?COOLTEC exposes fat cells to controlled cooling which breaks down the fat and destroys it so that it can be naturally flushed away from the body.

A suction-like device draws in the tissue and cools the fat cells which shrink, break down and are removed by the body’s natural metabolic process. The fat cells are killed off permanently and cannot return in that area. The treatment is non-invasive with zero downtime.

The ResultsResults can be seen in as little as 15 days after treatment and the fat cell reduction continues for 3 months. Stubborn, fat depos-its in the targeted areas are re-duced by between 20% and 40% after just one treatment. Expect to lose inches from your desired

area, whether waist, love handles, tum, derriere, thighs, abdomen or back. COOLTEC is particularly effective at shaping and contour-ing the waist, giving a lean, toned, sexy curve to the body.

Whether belly fat, back fat, ab-dominal fat or stubborn fat on the thighs, hips or buttocks, get the body you’ve only ever dreamed possible with COOLTEC. Body perfection including that sexy flat stomach can be yours with just one treatment. Book a free con-sultation today and find out how you can sculpt your body to per-fection in 2013.

In a world where the high street rules the fashion world, it is refreshing to find that bespoke lifestyle brands are making it big in Northern Ireland. I won’t lie, I am known to frequent the high street looking for high fashion at low prices, but I also must admit that there’s nothing quite like owning something unique – be that in the clothes you wear, your handbag or even the furniture that fills your home. And, when it comes to bespoke brands – Northern Ireland has some of the best...

Made PrettyMade pretty is the bespoke brand brought to you by Gillian Fisher who hails from Co. Down. The brand specialises in designing and creating beautiful handmade accessories for you and your home. Gillian creates handbags, purses; make up bags, cushions as well as a range of handmade cards with her range constantly developing. You can even dress your iPad or iPhone in style with one of Gillian’s handcrafted cases. Gillian also offers Made Pretty parties for parties of eight or more. Gillian describes her brand as self-indulgent loveliness you won’t find on the high street, the pieces are designed to update any outfit or space in the home adding a touch of individuality. www.madepretty.com

Hello in tHereHello in There is the brainchild of art graduate Beverley Currie. It originated as a small gift to a friend and since then has developed into a stylish brand creating bespoke bow-ties and quirky accessories. Beverley uses the finest prints, fabrics and styling to create the unique hand crafted garments. Whether you are dressing your man for a big event or even for a trip down the aisle, Hello in There adds something unique to the special occasion and Beverley’s creations have graced the necks of many discerning grooms since the brand was created. One of my favourite Hello in There creations is the black vintage lace bow-tie which us ladies could add to a simple white shirt for some on-trend androgynous style! www.hellointhere.co.uk

WhEn it ComEs to fashion trends and new-season key pieces, one thing is certain: nothing ever goes out of fashion permanently. The wheel of fashion forecasting keeps turning and with each cycle comes the reinvention of a once forgotten retro gem. With spring 2013 comes just that, this time the ‘90s are the decade of choice – with the old-school varsity jacket reliving its glory days.

For many (mostly stateside) students the varsity jacket (aka, “Letterman jacket”) is traditionally a representation of pride and support for their school sports team – a symbol of athletic success. Featured in the greatest ’90s teen romance flicks, we associate it with the cool sporty jock. Today this style is the jacket of choice for the urban, street style set, not to mention the celebrity elite. Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Olivia Palermo have all been spotted rocking various versions of the original style - cropped or oversized, embellished or printed - proving the versatility of this quintessential piece.

By martine Broggy, the natural hair Company

ProfEssional hair colour has been seen as a luxury in the past, but at the Natural Hair Company our clients know it’s an integral part of looking and feeling great and everyone deserves that! I adore colour and the way it can totally transform someone’s look. Just like fashion, hair colour trends can be tailored to an individual’s lifestyle and personality, you don’t have to buy in to a trend wholesale it’s about keeping your personal style fresh and up-to-date whatever your age!

PErfECt in PastElpastel pinks have been loved by everyone from rihanna to Helen Mirren but the trend is now reaching out across the rainbow to include peach, turquoise and even green. Adding all over pastel shades to blonde is really eye catching but only for the bold and the youthful. We frequently add slender slices of pastel into hair to add interest and versatility. It can totally lift a look.

“as sPring, the time of new beginnings, is well and truly upon us I want to dedicate my column this month to all mummys and to the wondrous treatment; Maya Abdominal Therapy.”

“Maya Abdominal Therapy, or Maya Massage which it is more commonly known, is the miracle massage treatment which I brought to back to Ireland from Belize in June 2009.”

“I came across this life-changing treatment whilst on my own heart-breaking journey

New Beginningsruth ellen logan proprietor of the multi-award winning beauty company in belfast was the lady responsible for bringing the wonderful Maya Massage treatment to ireland, and as such, is perfectly placed for giving you the inside knowledge on fertility problems, tips, tricks and techniques for female health, fertility and general reproductive wellbeing.

to become pregnant myself.” “Since introducing the

treatment, I have had huge success with over 120 women in Northern Ireland who have successfully become pregnant whilst undergoing the treatment.”

“Due to the demand and popularity of the treatment I undertook an apprentice who was hand-selected for her natural empathy, understanding of the body and her desire to help woman achieve their fertility dreams.”

“Amy Whitson, was the chosen Maya apprentice who is now fully qualified. Amy is now working full time as an Arvigo Abdominal Masseuse and IVF holistic practitioner.”

tHe treatMent “The concept of our Maya treatment is initially thorough understanding of the individual, emotionally, physically and spiritually.”

“The massage itself focuses very much so on the displacement of reproductive organs affecting blood flow and bowel problems.”

“The massage is a relaxing and rejuvenating way to put things right. But it’s the unspoken connection between the healing of hands and the connection the woman achieves with her body again that allows the miracles to happen.”

“Our massage technique has now allowed many women to achieve pregnancy, that perhaps otherwise wouldn’t and for that I am eternally grateful.”

Q. i have a cream high-gloss kitchen and would like to add some colour, what would you recommend?Patricia Says: as much as i love really bright colours, i am wary of using them with high-gloss kitchens as the combination can easily look a bit ‘cheap’. i would recommend a dark grey, as dark as you dare – think

farrow & ball’s down Pipe or railings. forget what you’ve heard about dark colours making spaces look smaller, focus on the atmosphere a dark colour will create and the cosiness it can bring to a space. i think its really effective to paint all your woodwork the same colour as the walls (skirting, architraving, doors – the lot). it looks really rich and if you are going to use a dark colour, you might as well do so real conviction. www.projecttwo.co.uk

updated in terms of functionality, and is also broader, covering more areas of the home. The previous collection was more coordinated, whereas this one contains strong individual pieces that belong to the same family, but easily combine with the furniture you already have.”

“We focused on living, dining and sleeping solutions, but the products are made as “crossover” pieces to fit many different spaces. One of the most unique things about STOCKHOLM, apart from the quality, is that

this is a collection of strong individual products that also go very well together,” commented Viveca Olsson, Creative Director.

Designer Ola Wilborg adds, “I hope that people dare to explore new ways of decorating. The bedside table makes a great sideboard in the living room, perfect for storing remote controls. And the chest of drawers can be used in the hallway, bedroom or living room. The swivel chair is also a great stand-alone piece in the bedroom.”

“The armrests on the dining chairs have an angle, so they fit perfectly under the table; it’s as if they’re being sucked in. The swivel function on the small chair makes sitting less static and much more comfortable. And the glass cabinet is designed to make the room visible through the piece, allowing beautiful wallpaper, for example, to become part of the cabinet.”

IKEA chose to work with a wide variety of supple and strong materials for STOCKHOLM. Walnut woodwork is elegant and durable and it led Ola to

“immediately think of furniture from the 50s and 60s. I looked quite a bit at those two decades, both in terms of design and in the way homes were decorated, and then compared that with how you live today. The ambition was to create a sustainable and timeless collection.”

Other materials used in the collection include luxurious leather and velvet as well as strong and beautiful bone china. This is a collection with longevity that will look good in your home for years to come.

As soon as you land on the island, you will feel the weight of the world lift from your shoulders, the relaxation here is palpable. You will be welcomed by friendly locals and don’t expect anything to be done in a hurry, being chilled out here is compulsory.

EatNorth of Barbados’ capital city of Bridgetown is Holetown. This was the first settlement on

the island when King James I landed here. It has a unique, rustic charm and some delicious restaurants. Ragamuffins Bar & Restaurant is a refreshingly honest place with flavourful food that packs a punch. They serve traditional West Indian food such as blackened fish with garlic aioli and Caribbean stir fry shrimp. The atmosphere here is characteristically laid back, but you get the feeling that a party could break out at any moment. stay. It will take you on a journey through the history of rum, how it’s made and most importantly, how it can be enjoyed! There are a few different tours including the Signature Rum Tour and the Interactive Cocktail Tour, but for an all encompassing experience, the Bajan Buffet Tour will ensure you taste all the local specialities.

slEEPThe award winning Little Arches hotel has gained an impressive reputation for itself, and it’s easy to see why. On entering the leafy driveway it is hard not to be wowed by what once was a Mediterranean-style mansion. The ten rooms are all unique and chicly decorated in a tropical theme with hand crafted accents. However, it’s definitely worth splashing out and opting for a room with a private plunge-pool or whirlpool, overlooking the aquamarine ocean.

Like any good hotel, the restaurant here is award winning in it’s own right. Café Luna, as it is called, it situated on the rooftop of the hotel and over dinner you will be treated to breathtaking views of the sunset on the sea. Complimenting the spectacular cuisine is mouthwatering food. It describes the fare as romantic dining and pan-tropical. Treats on offer include smoked Mahi Mahi, also known as dolphin fish, and Bouillabaisse; fresh local

fish and shellfish simmered in local tomato Pernod broth.

doTo really embrace the spirit of the island, sip on some rum and dance the night away at the music festival Reggae on the Hill at Farley Hill National Park. The park is set in the once regal ground of Farley Hill House, a mansion which is now in ruins, and which forms the backdrop to the stage. There are also terrific views over the east coast. This year’s event took place on 28th April. This island lives and breaths cricket, just look at the street names, many of which are named after cricket greats. There’s always an opportunity to watch a game, and if you ask nicely, the locals might just let you have a go yourself!

sEEThere’s a lot more to this small island than rum and reggae beats and the best place to learn all about it is St Nicholas Abbey. this stunning plantation house of Jacobean design is nestled within luscious gardens and is a fully interactive experience. Learn about the how plantation houses shaped the landscape of the island, and of some of the influential families of the day. Well, it seems rum is hard to avoid in Barbados as St Nicholas’s also have their very own blend!

Good VibrationstHis filM is a bioPic of terry Hooley, dubbed tHe godfatHer of ulster Punk, wHose belfast record store launcHed tHe careers of local Punk legends tHe undertones. Rachael Kelly tells you wHat see tHinks about it...

“good vibrations is not just a record store - it’s a way of life!” yells Terry Hooley to a rapturous Ulster Hall crowd in one of the film’s defining moments. You could say the same about the movie itself. Good Vibrations is not just a biopic: it’s much more ambitious than that. Part feel-good tale of triumph over adversity, part paean to 1970s Northern Irish punk, it’s also a skillful, beautiful look at one of the personal stories of hope that weave through Belfast’s troubled past. From the dreamlike opening section, where a home-

movie feel situates us firmly in 1950s nostalgia, to a hyper-kinetic introduction to the Troubles told through archival footage, it’s clear from the first few minutes that directing team Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn have something a little bit different in mind for their biography of a homegrown hero. And they don’t fail to deliver.

As you’d expect from a movie that displays its musical credentials front and centre, the acoustic landscape is just as important as the visual, and the movie careers enthusiastically from high-octane punk rock to country and western to 1960s pop - sometimes in the same scene. But some of the most impressive auditory coups have nothing to do with the songs: in one memorable moment, Hooley and pals raise a toast, only for the sound of shattering glass to replace the gentle clink of pint glasses - and suddenly we’re in the middle of sectarian hatred, friends swinging punches at other friends. Understated but effective, it’s one of many distinctive touches that set this movie apart.

Not every directorial flourish works so well as the others - every now and again the editing will get a bit too clever for its own good, and the film feels like it loses its way a little when it periodically brings the Troubles centre stage, instead of letting them play out as a sinister, simmering undercurrent. But these are minor niggles. Good Vibrations, at its core, is a spell-binding, joyful, air-punching ride through the formative years of a man who followed his instincts and his heart: a true portrait of a Hooleygan.

COOL FM rAdIO preSeNTer GarEth StEwart IS IN THe SpOTLIGHT THIS MONTH.

wHo are you closest too? Probably my Dad. I still value his advice on most things and he helps keep me grounded and focused. He has helped and advised me on most things and although I don’t always agree, he usually ends up being right. I hope in the future that I can do the same for my children. wHat is your earliest MeMory? Going up to Portrush every Summer with my parents. We

used to leave on the last day of school and stay up there the full two months of the Summer holidays. It was a great way to spend the Summer as we made a lot of good friends. I used to hate having to come back home as I didn’t really enjoy school. wHat is your biggest fear? To still be DJing in nightclubs when I’m 50! I suppose my biggest fear is not being able to work – I’m not really one for sitting about and always have to

be doing something to keep busy. relaxation is...Getting out on my boat and water skiing – it’s probably the only time I really switch off. I love nothing more than heading to the North Coast on a sunny day and spending the afternoon out on the water with friends and family. wHat are you best at? I would hope my job. I have been DJing in clubs since I was 16 and started in radio when I was 21. All the hard work has paid off and I’m now presenting the Cool FM Breakfast Show, the show I always dreamt of hosting. I wouldn’t say I know everything about my job as I’m constantly trying not only to push myself, but also take on board what others say. wHat do you value in a Partner? They have to be extremely understanding as presenting the Cool FM Breakfast Show and working in nightclubs means I work very unsociable hours and most holidays. wHat will sHock us? It takes seven alarms and a phone call from security in work to waken me up in the mornings! wHen did you last feel really HaPPy? Anytime I’m with my twin boys, Charlie and Cody – they make all the hard work worth it. Listen to Gareth Stewart and Connor Phillips in the mornings on the Cool FM Breakfast Show from 6am to 10am on 97.4FM
