I. Course Learning Outcome:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of principles of materials selection and adaption2. Evaluate and adapt teaching and learning materials3. Design and exploit materials for teaching and learning

This course evaluates learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3.

II. Project Objectives:

1. Read critically and select appropriate information from various sources on principles of materials selection and adaptation.

2. Adapt, design and exploit teaching and learning materials for a 60-minute lesson.3. Design a check-list to evaluate the teaching and learning materials prepared.4. Reflect on, and articulate reasons for, decisions made in planning and teaching (as in

this assignment).

III. Task: Project (100%)

This project consists of TWO sections: A, and B.

Part A involves searching, reading, understanding and preparing materials for tutorials

Part B1 involves reading and understanding the principles on materials selection and adaptation. Part B2 integrates the planning of a 60-minute lesson and designing the appropriate teaching and learning materials for the lesson. Part B3 concerns the design of a check-list to evaluate the teaching and learning materials. Part B4 entails a reflection of the experience and value of the whole assignment.

SECTION 1:

A Compilation of all material and task assinged preparing fot tutorial/ quiz (10%)

SECTION 2:

B1. Graphic organizer : Individual work (30%)

Read and select at least THREE articles from a variety of sources on (Three different parts) principles of materials selection and adaptation. ( eg: Evaluating the materials, Types of Materials etc.)Summarize the information in the form of short notes / using suitable graphic organizer (s) if possible.

B2. Teaching and learning materials: Pair work (30%)

Based on your finding in task B1, plan and write a simple lesson plan for a 60-minute lesson based on the KSSR syllabus.Adapt, design and exploit the teaching and learning materials for the lesson planned.Exhibit the teaching and learning materials produced for this lesson. (You must use at least THREE different materials for the different lesson stages

C. Check-list: Individual (20%)

Design a check-list to evaluate the teaching and learning materials used for your lesson.

D. Critical reflection: Individual (10%)

Carry out a lesson based on the lesson plan prepared in Task B

Based on the lesson carried out, write a reflection in about 500 words on your experience and the value of the resource materials used. You may use SWOT analysis or any suitable reflection.

1. Where, relevant, cite the source of the text and any references you have used, using the APA format.

2. No duplication of assignments from other coursework is allowed. 3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.4. Your work should be typewritten with double spacing and font Arial, size 11. 5. The cover page should have the following information:

6. You should adhere to the deadline. Without an approved extension of time, late submission will be dealt with severely.

F. A Good assignment should show:
