Outdoor Water ConservationWater is our most precious re-

source; we have an opportunity to en-sure water for all people, animals, andthe environment by increasing the effi-ciency at which it is used and changingthe wasteful habits. Currently, the av-erage Pasco County resident uses 115gallons of water per day for indooruse, while a majority of water used, per person, is for outdoor use. PascoCounty Utilities would like to sharesome tips on water conservation andto provide the water restrictionsschedule to assist with this effort.

The biggest use of water athome is generally the irrigation sys-tem. Irrigation can use water at an av-erage of 5-10 gallons per minute and500-1000 gallons per hour. Over wa-tering can kill the lawn, waste money, and hurt the environment, so irrigateonly when it is necessary. It is neces-sary to water the lawn when there aresigns of wilt or during the warmer sea-sons on your specified watering day.Optimize your watering schedule by

watering only once a week and ¾ aninch of water per cycle.

Root health determines if aplant needs more or less water tothrive. Cutting the grass to the appro-priate height for the specific grassspecies will encourage roots to growdeeper, while cutting the grass too lowcan weaken the grass and allow for in-vasive weeds to grow. Shallow rootsrequire more water for sustenance;deeper root structures hold moisturelonger and cause the grass to becomemore tolerant to drought, disease, andlawn pests.

Gardening choices will affectthe water needs of each plant. For-eign plant species require more waterto adapt to the climate and may evencompete with the native plants.Mulching (2”-3” inches of layers) canhelp to retain moisture, prevent ero-sion, and suppress weed growth.

Unattended water equipmentcan waste a hundred gallons in min-utes. Water can be saved by using theproper equipment at the nozzle. The

use of a shutoff nozzle or a hand hosewill allow the operator to direct a spe-cific flow of water with less waste andcan be shut off easier without turningoff the hose base nozzle.

Water Restriction schedule:Irrigation of established lawns and

landscaping is authorized for one dayper week.

Pasco County Utilities customerswith addresses ending in 0 or 1 canwater from 12:01–8 a.m. and 6–11:59p.m. Addresses ending in 2 or 3 canwater on Tuesday from 12:01–8 a.m.and 6–11:59 p.m. Addresses endingin 4 or 5 can water on Wednesdayfrom 12:01–8 a.m. and 6–11:59 p.m.Addresses ending in 6 or 7 can wateron Thursday from 12:01–8 a.m. and6–11:59 p.m. Addresses ending in 8or 9 can water on Friday from12:01–8 a.m. and 6–11:59 p.m.

If you’re hungry for a restaurantthat serves home-style cooked mealswith flair, but makes you feel at easeand at home, then you’ve got to go toAlex’s Place Restaurant and Bar inPort Richey. Located at 7845 GrandBoulevard near the Cotee River, Alex’sPlace is one of those rare places wherethe owners not only know you byname, but want you to call and letthem know you’re coming so they canmake you something they knowyou’re going to like, even if it’s not onthe menu.

Owned by Alex and SholehBabazadeh, they’ll tell you right offthe bat to just call Sholeh, “Mom.”Everyone does, and she likes it thatway. Open for lunch, dinner anddrinks, Alex’s Place is much largerthan it appears. In fact, it’s huge! Withmultiple rooms to dine in, two bars, indoor and outdoor seating, flat screenTVs and a game room that includes apool table, it’s a wonder that Alex’s

Place isn’t packed all the time. And Ihaven’t even mentioned the menu yet.The truth is, “Mom” is an amazingcook. While she has a cook on staff, she does a lot of the cooking herself, and everything that comes out of thekitchen is so good. Primarily Americanfare with a touch of her Persian her-itage sprinkled in, the burgers arehandmade and juicy, the sandwichesare assembled with care, and the spe-cials are gone before you can say PortRichey five times fast.

Speaking of specials, there reallyare too many to mention, but Momtold me that Friday night is prime ribnight adding, “The prime rib is servedat 5, but you better make a reservationif you want some because it’s usuallygone by 5:15!” I know you’retempted to laugh here, but she’s seri-ous. While most restaurants have peo-ple call for reservations so they cansave you a seat, “Mom” wants you tocall so she can make you up somethingspecial. It’s no wonder people come inand feel like they’re at home.

The menu aims to please withappetizers, snacks, salads, sandwichesand delicious entrees. Beautifullyplated, the food listed on the menu iswhat you might expect at an Ameri-can bar and grill, but the taste is dis-tinctly homemade. From theirBuffalo Shrimp to their Baby BackRibs, there’s something on the menufor everyone.

That said, as a customer you getthe impression from the get-go that“Mom” will probably make you any-thing you ask her for, if she’s in themood to make it. For example, if

you’re going to go, call ahead and askher to make some of her Kalam Polow.Don’t ask what it is, just ask her tomake it, because I, personally haven’tstopped thinking about it since I triedit the other day. Of course, that’s noton the menu, and it’s only a side dish, but trust me on this.

Decidedly relaxed, Alex’s Place isthe perfect place to come with friendsor family for a relaxing meal, to watchthe game, to shoot some pool or tograb a drink. Their drink menu is ex-tensive, and their two bars are literallyfilled to the brim with premium and

well liquors. There’s a healthy wine liston every table and a drink menu thatincludes a chocolate martini I intendto go back and try.

My experience also included hear-ing from my daughter that Alex’sPlace had “The best fries EVER,”which from a fry connoisseur, shouldmean something to all of you.

The thing about Alex’s Place isthat you can come as you are. Thefood tastes great, Mom’s going tomake you feel comfortable no matterwhat, and whatever life’s been throw-

ing at you, you’ll feel better with somegood home-style cooking and one (ortwo) treats from the bar.

Although there’s no children’smenu, Alex’s Place is family friendlyespecially during the day, and withmultiple dining areas to choose from, guests can choose between having anice quiet meal or having that sportsbar experience.

Specials run all week long, and Iknow I mentioned the Friday nightprime rib, but I also have to mentionthat Tuesday is always 2-for-1 fajitas

starting at 5 p.m., and that Thursdayhas a rotating special between beefstroganoff, lasagna, urban steak andstir-fry. There is a special on Saturdaynight but “Mom” said it’s always dif-ferent and to “call for a reservation.”

If you’re looking for a nice placeto have a party, Alex’s Place Restau-rant and Bar offers plenty of room, thefood is delicious, and “Mom” has anamazingly affordable catering andevents menu that starts at just $15 perperson and includes two hot meals, salad, fruit and dessert.

Already popular with locals,Alex’s Place is ready to welcome youand your friends into the fold, so call“Mom” and tell her you’re coming.

Dr. Cara Hacht is both a LicensedMassage Therapist and Doctor of Chi-ropractic who is dedicated to provid-ing families with a natural, holisticapproach to preventive healthcare andwellness. Located on Old CountyRoad 54 in New Port Richey, Dr.Hacht provides her patients withprompt, professional and friendly serv-ice. Her goal is to ensure the satisfac-tion of every patient, while offeringknowledgeable service in a supportiveand caring environment. Through acomplete array of chiropractic servicesand healthy lifestyle approaches, Dr.Cara Hacht strives to help patientslearn how to maintain harmony ofmind, body and spirit.

Dr. Hacht worked as a massagetherapist for six years before shestarted chiropractic school to help hergrow professionally and better helpclients in need. In 1994 she gradu-ated from Palmer College of Chiro-practic in Davenport, Iowa with a

Doctor of Chiropractic Degree andBachelor of Science in Biology. In fallof 2011, Dr. Hacht opened her cur-rent location on Old County Road 54,but she’s been practicing in New PortRichey for over 20 years.

Caring Chiropractic ServicesWhile I visited her office Dr.

Hacht explained more about chiro-practic to me. She says, “Chiropracticadjustment is the art of introducing aspecific force in a precise direction ap-plied to a vertebrae that is subluxatedor out of place. The doctor identifiesthe location of the subluxation, deter-mines the exact direction and the bestway to correct the positioning. Theadjustment itself is a movement of thespine that is done either by hand orwith a computerized instrument in avery quick movement. Normally, chi-ropractic adjustments do not hurt. Infact, most of my patients absolutelylove getting an adjustment. They actu-ally look forward to the time that theycan get adjusted because it feels terrific

for them. But, apprehension about anadjustment causing some pain or dis-comfort sometimes keeps the personwho can greatly benefit away.”

Dr. Hacht’s background in mas-sage therapy enables her to know howto work with her patients’ soft tissuethrough massage techniques while ad-justing patients. Sometimes, withoutmassage techniques, patients tense upin anticipation of their adjustment. This can make their muscles sore later. Her relaxing of trigger points beforean adjustment has lead many of her pa-tients to say she has “magic hands” oreven “hands of gold.” A high-lowtable is another convenience for pa-tients, which makes it easier for peopleto get off the table. A disc compres-sion table helps with disc injuries, andonsite x-ray equipment allows patientsto quickly get a diagnosis without hav-ing to go somewhere else to get x-rays.

All ages of patients can be seen byDr. Hacht, who says people of all agesbenefit from chiropractic care. She ex-plains, “Although limited scientific ev-

idence exists, there are very largeamounts of anecdotal evidence to sug-gest that babies suffering from prob-lems such as colic, breast feedingissues, lack of sleep, asthma all benefitfrom chiropractic treatment. For allages, we help with neck and back pain, wellness care, slip and falls, auto casesand sinus problems. We get to knowour patients and look at how we canhelp them create a foundation of goodhealth no matter what their age.”

MarionHelphrey explainshow Dr. Hacht’s carehas positively affectedher life, “I have expe-rienced the kind ofpain that can changeyour attitude aboutlife, people, and dailyactivities. It is at thesetimes when you start

to believe that things will never getbetter. Some time back, I met with Dr.Cara Hacht at her office. Her ap-proach to my situation with back painwas unique in that she treated me inthe non-traditional chiropractic sense. It was more like having a good friendin the business. She progressivelytreated my back and knee issues, and itseemed that the proverbial flowersstarted to bloom. I now realize thatthings DO get better. The pain started

to minimize, and my once positive atti-tude started to rematerialize. My exte-rior pain was someway linked to myinternal attitude towards life in general.Everything about her office conveys asense of wellbeing inside and out, be-ginning with the ladies that greet me,to the décor, to the skilled hands thattreat me. While waiting for the poster un-veiling guests were able to bid onsilent auction items. All proceedsfrom the auction support ClearwaterJazz and the educational programthey keep up year-round for students.Clearwater Jazz joins with the Pinel-las Education Foundation to rewardtwo promising student musicianswith scholarships every year. Thesescholarships are made possible by theHigh Notes Society members andcherished sponsors who donate everyyear at Clearwater Jazz fundraisers.Clearwater Jazz sends a big thankyou to these members, because“without them our programs forkeeping a passion for music alive

would not be possible.”As a non-profit organization,

Clearwater Jazz has fundraisersthroughout the year to support theireducational programs and jazz high-lights.

This year’s poster artist, RickHohimer (R.J.), designed the gor-geous piece of art with the intent toreflect the style of narrative expres-sionism. Hohimer’s brushstroke isinfluenced by French chemistChevreul, who was an influence ofGeorge Seurat. Hohimer’s work iscompared to creating an emotionalenergy with color brilliance and satu-ration through his juxtaposition oftones on canvas. His work is said to,

“envelop the viewer by creating allur-ing scenarios and inviting active par-ticipation in the story the artist hasbegun. The uniqueness of this art isthat each time we look; we eagerlywalk into his world.” Hohimer’sbrilliance and intensity in his workemits energy similar to that of the fa-mous works of Van Gogh, Gauguinand Emil Nolde.

For more than 25 years the Na-ture Coast Chapter of the Florida Na-tive Plant Society has been teachinggardening and nature enthusiasts howto bring color and beauty to theiryards by using plants native to Florida.“One of my favorite native wildflowersis called Green Eyes,” says NatureCoast Chapter President Julie Wert.“It blooms year round, does reallywell in sandy, well-drained soil, and itsmells like honey.” Julie says that thereare many native trees and plants thatwill provide beautiful color for youyear round, but you do have to do abit of searching to find them. Andthat’s where the Nature Coast Chap-ter of the Florida Native Plant Society(FNPS) can help you out.

They have plant sales twice a yearwhere a wide range of native trees, vines, and wildflowers will be available. The next one will be October 18 atHarvester United Methodist Churchat 2432 Collier Parkway in Land O’Lakes. “We love our native plants,”says Nature Coast Chapter Vice Presi-

dent Jonnie Spitler. “We have learnedthat planting natives does bring life tothe landscape.”

Julie agrees, “There are manyreasons to plant native plants. Be-cause native plants are adapted toFlorida’s weather conditions, they re-quire less watering and so you will beconserving water. You will also needless fertilizer and you’ll find that theplants are easier to take care of. Alsousing native plants gives you a realsense of place in your landscaping.Much of the landscaping around thearea looks like it could be anywherebut when you use native plants, youare representing Florida.”

In addition to their very popularplant sales, the Nature Coast Chapterof the FNPS has monthly meetingsand fieldtrips where you can learnmore about a wide variety of garden-ing and nature topics. They meet thesecond Tuesday of every month at 7p.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Commu-nity Center. “We bring in experts intheir field,” says Julie. “Recently, ar-chaeologist Barbara Hines talked to usabout how native people used plants

every day. In September we’ll have agardening program, and in Octoberwildflower expert Walter Taylor willcome speak to our group.” All NatureCoast Chapter meetings are open tothe public. Julie says the best way tofind out what programs are coming upis by going to their Facebook page(facebook.com/PascoNativePlants).

The monthly field trips are also

open to the public. “We try to organ-ize field trips that will be fun and in-formative for our members,” saysJulie. “We have been to Withla-coochee State Forest for a guided hikewith a ranger and a geologist. For July,we’re planning a trip to HoneymoonIsland and in August we are goingkayaking in the Hillsborough RiverState Park.”

the facility opened two years ago, soshe truly has been able to see heroriginal vision of ECLA to engage, enrich and empower come to life. The lead teachers that Erika initiallyhired, and the additional ones thathave been added as the programgrows, are still at ECLA. The staff isselected for educational background, experience and training, and all arebackground checked.

Infants as young as six weeks canbegin their care at Excel CreativeLearning Academy, but with onlyeight children in the class with twoteachers, there often is a waiting listfor these coveted spots. Once chil-dren are in their toddler years, the staffworks with parents as they see childrenare ready to move up to a class that isdevelopmentally appropriate. Thetwo-year-old class, called “Investiga-tors,” has two teachers for 18 stu-dents, while the three-year-old“Voyagers” class has two teachers witha maximum of 20 students. Studentsin these classes, as well as the four-year-old class, have the option to at-tend five days a week, three days

(Monday, Wednesday and Friday), ortwo days (Thursday and Friday).ECLA’s four-year-old class called “In-novators” is not a state VPK program, which Erika says allows for more flexi-bility for both parents and the stu-dents’ day. In this class students areoften found learning in small grouprotations, taking virtual field trips onthe class SMART Board which en-gages visual, auditory and kinestheticlearners, and interacting with circletime activities. Erika explains,“There’s a focus on developmentallyappropriate early literacy and mathskills in our four-year-old class. Our

job is to get them ready for kinder-garten.”

Excel Creative Learning Academybelieves developing and encouragingpartnerships with families is an essen-tial part of their success, and they arecommitted to children’s safety. Oneway they can quickly communicatewith parents is through notes that areon the small computer touch screensthat families use to check their child inand out, and can even run their creditcard through for convenient paying. After signing your child in or out eachday, you also use your fingerprint to

enter into the children’s area of the fa-cility – an additional precaution on topof the buzz-in front entrance – to in-sure children’s safety. Erika and herassistant director have a digital feed ofthe halls and classrooms so they canvideo monitor the facility. Even stu-dents with peanut allergies can feelsafe at Excel Creative Learning Acad-emy, since they are 100% peanut free.Daily notes go home with children, which include sleep habits, what theyate, and other notes. Three and four-year-olds take home learning packetsthat help keep parents aware of what

sight words the children are workingon, and it includes a little activity to becompleted. ECLA wants parents tobe involved and these types of familyconnections, homework, and dailynotes help you feel like you under-stand your little one’s day while awayfrom you.

School-Age ProgramsExcel Creative Learning Acad-

emy has a growing before and afterschool program for children at Trin-ity Elementary School. Students takethe school bus right from ECLA toTrinity Elementary, and in the after-noon from Trinity Elementary toECLA. Erika explains, “We havevery low ratios for our before andafter program, so students receivepersonal attention, homework help, including through SMART Boardtechnology, and benefit from ourflexible hours of 6:30 a.m.- 6:30p.m., outside of the school day.”

Except major holidays, ECLA isopen when public school is closed, sothey provide camps for school-agedchildren during winter, spring breaks, and summer. The last Saturday ofevery month ECLA holds a Parents’

Night Out from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. forchildren from the age of six weeksthrough 5th grade (11 years old). Asan added convenience your child doesnot have to be enrolled in ECLA forParents Night Out! Because ECLA isa 24/7 licensed facility they have nightand weekend care available basedupon demand. They are currently tak-ing names on a waiting list for both,so if you are in need of weekend ornighttime care, be sure to call.

Room to Play OutsideAlthough ECLA’s 7,000-square-

foot facility is tucked away in the Med-ical Arts Building on the MedicalCenter of Trinity campus, they do stillhave a beautiful outside play area. One group of children use the play-ground at a time that will include avegetable garden, herb garden andflowers in the fall of 2014. Even theyounger children get outside timethrough stroller walks starting at sixmonths old.

Parent Sue Beane sums it upbeautifully, “We could not have pickeda better preschool experience for ourson. The staff is caring, knowledge-able, and enthusiastic. Andrew is

more than ready for kindergartenthanks to the loving staff at Excel Cre-ative Learning Academy.”

During my visit at Excel Cre-ative Learning Academy I noticedhow the children were actively in-volved in age-appropriate activities, and were having a great time doingit! The facility was very clean andengaging, but also secure. It wasalso obvious that Erika and her staffmake it a priority to listen to theirfamilies. As ECLA is growing, Erikaand the staff are taking feedbackthey hear, such as a request for or-

Summer is a great time to getout and enjoy all that nature has tooffer. Whether you want to run, hike, bike, or prefer to relax whilelooking for birds, wildlife, or beauti-ful plants and flowers, our area hasplenty of opportunities for you to ex-plore the great outdoors.

No matter what your interests, there is a good chance that LakePark at 17302 N Dale Mabry High-way in Lutz will have somethingyou’ll want to do. There is a large, fun playground with beautiful viewsof one of the parks five lakes. Agazebo, picnic tables, and coveredareas provide the perfect place torelax while your kids play.

In addition to lakes, the 589-acreLake Park is home to cypress swamps, pine flat woods, and hardwood ham-mocks making it a sanctuary for birdsand wildlife. If you want to get someexercise in a beautiful location, this is agreat choice with its exercise trail andtwo-mile scenic hiking trail.

If you prefer watersports or just

want to take in the view from thelakes, you can also rent canoes orkayaks. Lake Park also has primitivecamping sites.

In addition to these amenitiesLake Park is home to an archeryrange, a BMX bicycle track, twoequestrian arenas, and a radio-con-trolled car track, making it one veryunique park. These facilities are opento the public except during races, events, and tournaments.

With all of this to offer, LakePark is the perfect combination offun activities, excitement, andbreathtaking beauty.

Lake Rogers Park at 9010 NorthMobley Road in Odessa has two freshwater lakes, pine flatwoods, and oakhammocks. The lakes on this 272-acrepark provide foraging habitat for wad-ing birds, bald eagles, and osprey. Ifyou’re quiet and lucky, you might alsospot raccoons, opossums, otters, orbunnies here.

You can pack a lunch and enjoy anice picnic at one of the many sheltersor picnic tables inside the park. Thereis also a group campsite for overnight

stays. The 2.5-

mile dirt trailthat circlesaround LakeRogers is ascenic, mean-dering trekthrough ashady forestwith frequentviews of thelake. Alongthe way, thereare signs thathighlight in-formationabout some of the local plants or ani-mals you might see. There is also acanoe launch for non-motorized boat-ing and fishing and a nature trail thatis an offshoot from the main trail.

With more than 8,000 acres, youcould visit the Jay B. Starkey Wilder-ness Preserve (10500 Wilderness ParkBlvd, New Port Richey) many timesand still not see everything the parkhas to offer. The park has an informa-tion kiosk, open space, camping area,

horse corral and equestrian trail, na-ture and paved multi-purpose trails, day use area, shelters and pavilions, playgrounds, and horseshoe and vol-leyball courts.

You could spend days exploringall the trails inside the Jay B. StarkeyWilderness Preserve. The multi-pur-pose trail consists of 7.3 miles ofpaved surface for bike riding, rollerblading, jogging or walking andit connects to the 42-mile long Sun-

coast Trail. There is a 10-mileequestrian trail and 13 miles of hik-ing trails. More than 177 differentspecies of birds have been spotted onthe birding trail, which was designedby the Audubon Society.

One unique feature at Jay B.Starkey Wilderness Park is the SolarSystem Walk. On this walk, you’ll finda series of signs, starting with a pictureof the sun followed by pictures of theall the planets in our solar system. Ashort distance from the sun is theMercury sign, then Venus, Earth andMars – the inner planets. Each signhas a list of the planet’s distinctive fea-tures, as well as statistics like theirmass, diameter and the distance andtime it takes to orbit the sun. Al-though it is no longer considered aplanet, Pluto was the last stop in thesolar system for many generations. Onthis planetary hike, it lies a mile fromthe sun. “From the Sun to Pluto” canbe found on the park’s bike path, nearParking Area 8, Shelter 5.

The newest addition to the pre-serve will be especially appealing tobikers. At the end of June, PascoCounty dedicated a new off-road biketrail, designed to showcase some ofthe park’s natural beauty. Members of

the South West Association of Moun-tain bike Peddlers (SWAMP) usedhand tools and small pieces of heavymachinery to groom the trail and de-signed it to be in the shade. The first7-mile section dubbed the MagnoliaTrail is an access trail to the heart ofwhat is anticipated to be a 35-miletrail system inside the park. The Mag-nolia Trail leaves from parking lot #10and winds through pine uplands, oldgrowth oaks, scrub oak, flat woods, wetlands, cypress domes, and a beauti-ful lily pond.

If you’re just interested in a dayoutside, the Jay B. Starkey WildernessPreserve has 7 shelters, 4 restroombuildings, and one large playgroundproviding plenty of space for you andyour whole family to enjoy a relaxingday outside.

All of the parks have entry fees(usually $2) as well as additional feesfor camping and renting shelters. Thehours vary depending on the season.

orthodontic care affordable to all.We will miss our visits to his office.Dr. Albert Family Orthodonticscomes highly recommended in thishousehold.”

While kids absolutely love AlbertFamily Orthodontics, it’s perfect foradults too. Casey Odell writes, “Teethcame out PERFECT! Love the results!I was a little nervous when I first madean appointment, seeing as how I am alittle bit older, but I couldn’t be hap-pier! The office is nice, clean, andmodern. Staff and Dr Albert weresuper friendly, helpful, and ready toanswer any questions and work withyou. I will be recommending anyoneand everyone that needs a perfectsmile to come here!”

Dr. Albert grew up locally andtruly has become a leader in thecommunity, where he now lives withhis family. An alumnus of local EastLake High School, Dr. Albert nowbrings his services to the Pasco andPinellas communities as a specialist inOrthodontics and Dentofacial Or-thopedics. A graduate (with honors)of The University of Florida’s Col-lege of Dentistry, he also completed

his Orthodontic Residency, receivedhis Orthodontics Certificate, andearned his Master’s of Science De-gree from UF.

This year, Dr. Albert was privi-leged to take part in two importantoutreach projects that provided freedental care to Floridians and abroadin Haiti.

Mission Possible!Locally, Dr. Albert joined other

dental professionals to provide freedental care to 1,660 people at the firstFlorida Mission of Mercy (FLAMOM)event, which was held at the FloridaState Fairgrounds on March 28-29 ofthis year. Dr. Albert says, “With thehelp of over 1,400 volunteers, we pro-vided 8,000 dental procedures equal-ing approximately $1.1 million dollars’worth of free care.”

When Pastor Douglas Poole ofCypress Meadows Communitystarted planning a mission trip toHaiti, Dr. Albert stepped up to vol-unteer along with other members ofhis church, not really knowing whatto expect. They went to an outskirtcommunity on the northwesterncoast of Haiti where people haven’treceived much outside help due tothe remote location. Dr. Albert ex-plains, “It was a leap of faith. There

was no setup other than a chair, in-struments and anesthetic, but wewere still able to help a lot of people.I pulled 39 teeth; extractions are agreat way to help people in those cir-cumstances because it eliminates thepain and prevents infection.” Dr. Al-bert is thankful to the many localdentists who donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. “We had threelarge suitcases full of donated sup-plies from our generous local den-tists. It is sad to say, but for a lot ofthe children there, they did not havetheir own toothbrush or any way to

clean their teeth. They were clutch-ing those toothbrushes like the bestgift you could imagine!”

Dr. Albert is humble about thegreat success of Albert Family Ortho-dontics and is very appreciative of hispatients and the community’s trust inhim. So, he does his best to give back– both to his patients and the com-munity. Brilliantly, he blends con-tests with community outreach, suchas the recent Pet Palooza contest.“Our patients posted pictures ofthemselves with their pets and had achance to win gift cards to PetSmart,

and for every picture posted, we do-nated $3 to the Humane Society. Itwas another way to get people en-gaged and a neat and fun way to giveback to the community.”

Once again this year, AlbertFamily Orthodontics held its “Mak-ing a Change” contest for localschools and was able to give $1,000to Dayspring Academy, $250 toSeven Springs Middle School, and$250 to River Ridge Middle School.“I went to each school and met withthe principals to give them the checkpersonally,” shares Dr. Albert. “Theyhad immediate needs and I was so

happy that wewere able tohelp.” To decidethe winners ofthe “Making aChange” con-test, Albert Fam-ily Orthodonticslists all of theschools in thearea that theirpatients go to onits facebookpage, and peoplevote for their fa-vorite school. The top threeschools with the

most likes are then entered into arandom drawing for the top prize.

Some of Dr. Albert’s contests arejust to give back to his patients, like arecent contest that utilized the popu-lar website Pinterest. “Re-Pin toWin” was super easy; all that was re-quired to be in the running to win anXbox One was to re-pin a graphicdesign provided by the Albert FamilyOrthodontics.

The “Summer of Music andSmiles” contest, though, is a definitefavorite of patients of all ages. Thisyear’s concerts to win include fourtickets to Luke Bryan’s September 6

concert and four tickets to One Di-rection on October 3. The “Sum-mer of Music and Smiles” contestruns from July through August, andto enter, Albert Family Orthodon-tics’ patients just post a picture ofthemselves on facebook and havetheir friends vote for them to win.

Community is important to Dr.Albert, who is a member and PaulHarris Fellow of the Rotary Club ofTrinity. Every year, Albert Family Or-thodontics hosts a “Candy Buy Back”after Halloween, where sweets aredonated to troops stationed overseas.Albert Family Orthodontics also par-ticipates in Toys for Tots through theSalvation Army every holiday season.

Besides all the fun and games, Dr.Albert provides conveniences thatmany other offices don’t have, fromself check-in options and free Wi-Fi, tofreshly brewed Keurig Coffee andfreshly baked Otis Spunkmeyer choco-

late chip cookies. The wait is neverlong, and there is plenty of entertain-ment from the large flat-screen televi-sions to XBOX Kinect and iPad kiosks, loaded with the latest apps andmovies. Patients and their families loveAlbert Family Orthodontics in PalmHarbor and Trinity!

Albert Family Orthodontics islocated in Trinity at Trinity Profes-sional Place, 1806 Short BranchDrive, Suite #102, and in PalmHarbor at 2445 Tampa Road,Suite A.
