Now in its 11th year, the MCA Top of Mind Report 2018 provides business leaders in the UK eating and drinking out industry with valuable information on the current and future state of the sector, as well as insight on how to navigate the current market.

Despite inflation reaching 2.7% in January 2018, trading performance in the sector is significantly better than during the 2008 crisis, with customer service excellence cited as the most important factor to drive sales growth, followed by a focus on consumer insight, menu innovation and enhanced dining experiences.

Whilst the majority of senior executives expect trading conditions to remain tough in 2018, 92% of them predict consumer eating out frequency will bounce back in five years’ time, with street food, delivery players, contemporary fast food and food-to-go the top four segments expected to outperform.
