EDITORIALE

Il Viet-Chi Post esce quattro volte allanno (Primavera, Estate,Autunno ed Inverno), ogni tre mesi, con linizio di ogni stagione,con nuovi contenuti: articoli, fotografie, links interessanti sullepagine web del circuito Viet-Chi.

Ho deciso di arricchire la pubblicazione con articoli legati a luoghiparticolari per il maestro Phan Hoang, come ad esempio il Tempiodi Haeinsa (Korea) che lo ha ispirato per la creazione della formaBat-Nha o a leggende del Vietnam come quella di Lac Long Quan ela fata Au Co, di cui il maestro aveva parlato allultimo stage di Vo-Viet a Cuneo.

Inoltre ho ripreso il racconto Grandi Guerrieri del Dai-Namrealizzato dal maestro stesso, molto interessante per espandere lenostre conoscenze sulla storia del Vietnam attraverso le avventuredi Clara Ikube.

Se avete storie, leggende, racconti, aneddoti da condividere sonoben felice di condividerle sul prossimo Viet-Chi Post.

Lo stage di SANGANO del 11 Maggio 2014 havisto il grande successo del VO VIET, Arte

Marziale nellambito del VIET CHI DAO.

In un allenamento diretto dal GM PhanHoang si sono trovati assieme praticanti

di VO VIET di diverse scuole, uniti daunenergia unica, la stessa che il Maestro

sa sempre infondere.

Grande entusiasmo e grande stupore nel vedere e constatare ildinamismo e la capacit del GM nellesporre e suscitare interesse atutti i livelli ancora una volta, sullargomento VO VIET: una visionemodernizzata dellArte Marziale.

Tante cose sono state dette e fatte nel campo delle Arti Marziali.

La globalizzazione anche in questo campo ha fatto s che lecaratteristiche specifiche di ciascuna Arte si attenuassero, quindi sevogliamo che lArte Marziale in generale e nella fattispecie il VOVIET nasca a nuova vita, occorre che trovi una propria mission chela caratterizzi e la renda diversa da un punto di vista differenterispetto al passato e rispetto alle altre, uno scopo moderno,accattivante e utile per gli uomini che vivono la vita moderna, conproblematiche diverse da quelle intese sinora, che si rinnovicontinuamente ed evolva continuamente, insomma, che sappiastare al passo con i tempi.

Questo il messaggio del GM allo stage di Sangano e a giudicaredallentusiasmo suscitato, pare che il messaggio sia stato recepito.

Il Vo-Viet Dai-Bang piange la scomparsa del maestro FrancoCrisci, insegnante di Guido e Paolo, che ha portato per primo learti marziali del Vietnam a Cuneo, in particolare la scuola Binh-DinhSa-Long-Cuong.

Grande maestro, stato capace di affascinare e coinvolgerecentinaia di persone nella pratica con il suo entusiasmo, il suocarisma e la sua capacit di trasmettere ed insegnare.

Quando ha smesso linsegnamento delle arti marziali, per dedicarsiallo sviluppo dello sport in Piemonte, la sua eredit stata portataavanti dai suoi allievi, che hanno continuato a crescere ed asviluppare le sue idee.

La forza delle idee, la capacit di relazionarsi con le persone, diacquisire doti di leadership, di diventare adattabilinellimprevedibilit, di comunicare con il cuore e con la mentequesti sono alcuni dei doni preziosi che ha trasmesso Franco Crisci.

Lasd Dynamica nasce nellottobre 2009 con lintento di offrire unaserie di attivit di vario genere e per tutte le et volte al benesserepsico-fisico della persona: hip hop per bambini e ragazzi, danzaafricana, Viet Chi Dao (Viettaichi, Vietkhiphap, Voviet) e molti altrisingoli eventi, quali conferenze sullalimentazione, giornate distudio con art conselor e professionisti negli ambiti pi diversi.

Negli ultimi due anni i corsi organizzati dalla Dynamica hannoraggiunto un grado di partecipazione e di qualit di tutto rispetto,ottenendo ottimi risultati a livello nazionale (per il team dellHipHop) ed internazionale (nel Viet Chi Dao).

In particolare sono cresciuti a 4 i corsi di Viet Chi Dao (2 a Perginee 2 a Trento) tenuti dallIstruttrice di 2 Dang Paola Binh LamMongera che hanno visto nellultima stagione liscrizione di 58persone.

Il programma finora affrontato spazia da varie forme di Viettaichiad esercizi specifici di respirazione e riscaldamento del Vietkhiphap;questanno stato proposto con successo uno studioparticolarmente approfondito del Quyen Tinh Mat a tutti ipartecipanti, anche principianti, che hanno potuto conoscere dipersona il GM Phan Hoang in occasione dello stage organizzato aCaldonazzo il 4 maggio scorso.

Da 4 anni Paola dedica particolare attenzione agli allievi chepresentano problemi di salute di tipo reumatologico, pispecificatamente per fibromialgia, patologia per la quale anchessa iscritta allATMAR, Associazione Trentina Malati Reumatici, con la

Alcune parole di GM Phan Hoang sulla nostra Scuola.

Io venni la prima volta a Cuneo lo scorso anno, il 19 aprile 2012.Avvicinandoci a questa antica citt dalla provenienti da Torino nonabbiamo visto nulla che potesse farci dire che stavamo entrando inuna citt; la strada sembrava terminare davanti a una bellamontagna, una montagna con la neve in cima.

Ma pochi istanti dopo, ho sentito subito che questo posto mipiaceva, la gente, le strade strette, il viale centrale, tutti moltobelli. Non posso dire che Cuneo sia una citt tipicamente italiana,perch qualsiasi citt in Italia sempre molto italiana.

Tuttavia Cuneo, questa antica citt italiana, ha un posto specialenel mio cuore:"Un luogo di speranza, un ponte tra passato e futuro".

Sotto la guida di due giovani maestri l'intero gruppo pieno distudenti entusiasti. Un maestro un insegnante di matematica,l'altro uno psicologo, l'addestramento duro, ma lo spirito alto.

CUNEO, by G.M. Phan Hoang

I first came to Cuneo last year, on April 19 2012. When approaching this oldcity by the road from Torino we did not see anything that could tell we wereentering to a city; the road seemed to end at a beautiful mountain ahead, amountain with snow on top.

But a few moments later, I immediately felt that I liked this place; the people,the narrow streets, the central avenue, all are attractive.

I could not say Cuneo is a town typically Italian because any town in Italy isalways really Italian. However Cuneo, this old Italian town, does has a specificplace in my heart: A place of hope, a bridge between the past and the future.

Under the lead of two young masters the whole group is full of enthusiasticstudents. One master is a professor of mathematics and the other is apsychologist; the training is hard and the spirit is high.

They want to preserve high values from the past and apply new approaches ofour art as a discipline to educate modern citizens: being strong, responsible,and helpful.

Each time I come to train them I am enthusiastic and I feel I become younger.They have opted a Vietnamese name for their group:VO-VIET Dai-Bang which means The Eagle of Vietnamese Martial Arts

Questo un interrogativo importante nel campo dellepistemologia(la filosofia della conoscenza). attraverso luso della ragione ograzie allacquisizione dellesperienza che noi riusciamo a conoscerequalcosa.

Noi non dobbiamo prendere parte alla discussione tra razionalit edempirismo; lasciamo questa disquisizione a Platone, Descartes,Kant, Gettier e altri filosofi come loro. Quello che interessa a noi molto pi pratico: come possiamo sapere quanto abbiamo acquisitodel metodo e della tecnica della nostra arte nel campo dellediscipline del VIET-CHI?

In altre parole: come possiamo scoprire se qualcuno sa o non sanel campo delle nostre arti?La prova sta nel superare ad un livello accettabile il test secondo ilmodello dei 9 livelli di cui i primi quattro sono:1) Hinh2) Thuan3) Tinh4) Khi

Quando organizzo un viaggio fai da te la prima cosa che miprocuro una mappa geografica del luogo, non necessariamentedettagliata perch ci devo poter scarabocchiare sopra.Poi una o pi valide guide e qualche recensione che mi sembraattendibile.Comincio a leggere e, mano a mano che trovo dei posti interessantida visitare li evidenzio sulla mappa con un chiaro cerchio; se trovoqualcosa di parzialmente interessante mi limito a sottolineare ilnome del luogo.Tenendo conto delle giornate che ho a disposizione per effettuare ilviaggio, tratteggio un ipotetico percorso che vada a toccare tutti (oquasi) i cerchi e le linee segnati in precedenza, secondo diversicriteri: senso di guida, orientamento paesaggistico delle strade,alternanza di luoghi (citt, laghi, archeologia, mare, trekking, ecc.).Un po come quel gioco unisci i puntini proposto da una famosarivista di enigmisticaValuto la tipologia di strade ed i relativi tempi di percorrenza,stabilendo cos anche i punti di sosta notturna ed eventuali tagli sutratti di percorso che si rivelano inopportuni.Mi preparo una tabella riepilogativa delle tappe e delle soste e, aquesto punto, mi compro una cartina geografica aggiornata edettagliata (minimo 1:200.000) che mi servir come guida duranteil viaggio. Ogni sua azione e pensiero segue un metodo ben preciso, unastrategia codificata che gli permette di trovare immediatamente lamigliore soluzione ad ogni problema, il migliore atteggiamento difronte ad ogni situazione, in palestra con i propri discepoli o nellavita quotidiana con i suoi aspetti pi imprevisti.Dopo anni di attenta osservazione dellevoluzione che le suediscipline hanno avuto allinterno delle varie scuole e nelle varienazioni sparse in tutto il mondo, meditando su quale potesseessere il futuro migliore per il loro sviluppo e per la loro diffusione econsiderando anche la gamma di persone coinvolte in questosviluppo, ha creato una via nuova espressione del Viet-Chi System,il Viet-Chi-Dao.Nel VCD viene riassunto tutto ci che si rivelato il meglio dellesingole discipline basato su un innovativo e lungimirante metododidattico.Una vera e propria rivoluzione dellormai obsoleto modo di pensarele arti marziali e le pratiche di buona salute.Un nuovo ed impegnativo percorso per un reale progresso dellediscipline corpo/mente, un approccio interdisciplinare fondato suun preciso ed entusiasmante metodo di lavoro.

When I organize a travel to "do it yourself" the first thing I get is a

geographic map of the place, not necessarily detailed because I

have to be able to scribble above. Then apply one or more guides

Il Tempio di Haeinsa (letteralmente "tempio della riflessione su unmare calmo") uno dei pi antichi templi buddhisti della Corea delSud.Qui nel 1983 il GM Phan Hoang medit e cre il quyen Bat-Nha.

Questo tempio famoso per ospitare la Tripitaka Koreana, ciol'intera collezione di 81.258 tavolette in legno con le ScrittureBuddhiste, presenti qui fin dal 1398.

Haeinsa uno dei tre templi-gioielli del Buddhismo, insieme a quellidi Tongdosa e Songgwangsa: di questi il primo rappresenta ildharma, il secondo il Buddha e il terzo il sangha. Haeinsa si trova

sul monte Gayasan, nella provincia del South Gyeongsang, ed tuttora un attivo centro di insegnamenti Zen.

Il tempio venne costruito nell'802. Secondo la leggenda, duemonaci di ritorno dalla Cina, di nome Suneung e Ijeong, riuscironoa guarire la moglie del re Aejang dalla sua malattia; in segno diringraziamento, il sovrano ordin la costruzione del tempio in onoredi Buddha. Secondo invece il racconto di Choe Chi-Won (del 900),Suneung e il suo discepolo Ijeong convertirono la regina madre alBuddhismo e ottennero da lei i finanziamenti per la costruzione deltempio.

Il complesso di cui Haeinsa fa parte venne rinnovato pi volte: nelX secolo, nel 1488, nel 1622 e nel 1648. Nel 1817 venne distruttoda un incendio e la sala principale venne ricostruita gi l'annoseguente. Durante un nuovo restauro nel 1964 vennero scoperteuna veste cerimoniale del re Gwanghaegun e un'iscrizione su di unatrave in rilievo.

Nel 1995 il tempio di Haeinsa venne inserito nell'elenco deiPatrimoni dell'umanit dell'UNESCO

HAEINSA TEMPLE

Haeinsa (Temple of the Ocean Mudra) is a head temple of theJogye Order of Korean Buddhism in the Gaya Mountains, SouthGyeongsang Province South Korea.Haeinsa is most notable for being the home of the TripitakaKoreana, the whole of the Buddhist Scriptures carved onto 81,350wooden printing blocks, which it has housed since 1398.

Haeinsa is one of the Three Jewel Temples of Korea, and representsDharma or the Buddhas teachings. It is still an active Seonpractice center in modern times, and was the home temple of theinfluential Rev. Seongcheol, who died in 1993.

The temple was first built in 802. Legend says that two Koreanmonks returned from China, Suneung and Ijeong, and healed KingAejang's wife of her illness. In gratitude of the Buddha's mercy, theking ordered the construction of the temple. Another account, byChoe Chi-Won in 900 states that Suneung and his disciple Ijeong,gained the support of a queen dowager who converted to Buddhismand then helped to finance the construction of the temple.

The temple complex was renovated in the 10th century, 1488,1622, and 1644. Huirang, the temple abbot enjoyed the patronageof Taejo of Goryeo during that kings reign. Haeinsa was burneddown in a fire in 1817 and was rebuilt in 1818. Another renovationin 1964 uncovered a royal robe of King Gwanghaegun, who wasresponsible for the 1622 renovation, and an inscription on a ridgebeam.

The main hall, Daejeokkwangjeon (Hall of Great Silence and Light),is unusual because it is dedicated to Vairocana where most otherKorean temples house Shakyamuni in their main halls.

The Temple of Haeinsa and the Depositories for the "TripitakaKoreana" Woodblocks, were added to the UNESCO World HeritageList in 1995. The UNESCO committee noted that the buildingshousing the Tripitaka Koreana are unique because no otherhistorical structure was specifically dedicated to the preservation ofartifacts and the techniques used were particularly ingenious.

The temple also holds several official treasures including a realisticwooden carving of a monk and interesting Buddhist paintings,stone pagodas, and lanterns.

Terminata la sessione diallenamento intensivo perBlack Belts Elite, Clara attesedi essere lultima Cintura Nerapresente nel dojo e si feceavanti verso il Maestro, al qualeaveva chiesto la possibilit diuna conversazione privata.

Seduta nella posizione del lotodi fronte al Maestro, chiese:Maestro, posso chiedere la suaopinione su cosa la Storia?Il Maestro non risposeimmediatamente. Dopo unmomento di silenzio, affermlentamente: La Storia lartedi mentire

Clara rimase sorpresa e comeprima reazione cerc di protestare, ma si ferm ed attesepazientemente. Dopo qualche momento, il Maestro continu: LaStoria larte di mentire; dipende a cosa si vuole credere. Mascoprire la Storia una scienza, una scienza per trovare la verit.Questa scienza chiamata Metodologia di Ricerca

Detto questo il maestro estrasse un libro e la fotocopia di unvecchio documento. Scrisse una dedica a Clara sulla prima paginabianca del libro, firm e vicino appose un sigillo rosso.

Il libro aveva un titolo stampato in oro che riportava Metodologiadi Ricerca sulle Arti Marziali Asiatiche e il vecchio documentoera relativo al mistero del Collezionista di Teste.

Clara Lynn Ikube era nata nel 1975 su una nave da guerra dellaSettima Flotta Americana.Laureatasi a West Point, intraprese brillantemente la carrieramilitare per circa dieci anni, finch decise di lasciare lEsercitoAmericano per poter fare un Dottorato in Storia presso ilprestigioso Union Research Institute.

Il suo progetto di ricerca sulla Storia delle Strategie diCombattimento nel Sud-Est dellAsia la port nel campo delleantiche arti marziali vietnamite.

Il suo lavoro era pianificato per uno studio sulla Storia dei grandiguerrieri della terra del Dai-Nam durante il periodo della DinastiaLe (1428-1789) in Vietnam.

Questo era un lungo periodo di guerra, combattimenti nelle artimarziali e applicazioni di nuove strategie militari, intrighi di corte,manipolazioni che costarono la vita di migliaia di Trang-Si(cavalieri) di lite, i guerrieri vietnamiti. Molti grandi maestri di artimarziali vennero uccisi. Durante questo periodo, numerose e validestrategie militari vennero inventate e poi ignorate da molti storiciprofessionisti.

Seguendo il suggerimento del suo maestro di arti marziali, Claraand in Vietnam, il nome attuale del Dai-Nam, per scoprire la veritnascosta nella storia di questa terra leggendaria.

Fortunatamente conosceva bene la Metodologia di Ricerca che laaiut ad entrare in profondit nella Storia del Vietnam e conoscevaanche il segreto per imparare rapidamente le lingue straniere.

Le sue scoperte sulla storia, la vita, le tecniche e lo spirito deiGrandi Guerrieri attraverso i racconti vietnamiti, che a voltecontraddicono i libri di storia ufficiali, la sorpresero enormemente.

Allultimo momento, la sua vita cambi quando scopruninaspettato documento poche ore prima di lasciare il Vietnam.Ritornata negli USA decise di scrivere il suo report come una storiadi fantasia: Racconti dei Gradi Guerrieri della Terra del Dai-Nam

Ricordando linsegnamento del suo maestro, pens che ci che lagente impara dalla storia, spesso si mescola con i miti nascosti efantasie, dato che scritta da chi detiene il potere per meglioservire ai loro scopi che siano nobili o meno.

Una buona fiction storica meglio di un resoconto storico errato.

GREAT WARRIORS FROM DAI-NAM LANDBy G.M. Phan Hoang

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

When the intensive training session for Black Belts Elite was justover, Clara waited to be the last Black Belt present at the dojo andcame forward to the Master whom she had solicited for a privateconversation.

Sitting in lotus posture in front of the Master, she asked: Master,could I have your opinion, what is History?. The Master did notanswer immediately. After a moment of silence, he slowly stated:History is an art of lying.

Surprised, Clara first reaction was trying to protest, but she thenrefrained from and waited patiently. At the next moment, theMaster continued: History is an art of lying; it depends on whatside one believes. But discovering History is a science, a science tofind the truth. This science is called the Research Methodology.

Upon this the master took out one book and a photocopy of an olddocument. He dedicated the book to Clara at the first blank page,signed, and affixed a red seal next to his signature. The book borea title printed in gold that said RESEARCH METHODOLOGY FORASIAN MARTIAL ARTS and the old document was for THECOLLECTOR OF HEADS mystery.

Clara Lynn Ikube was born in 1975 on a warship of the American7th Fleet. Graduated from West Point she brilliantly pursued hermilitary career for about ten years then left the American Army fordoing a Doctorate in History at the prestigious Union ResearchInstitute. Her research project on History of Combat Strategy inSouth-East Asia led her to the field of ancient Vietnamese martialarts.

Her work was planned for a focus on the History of great warriorsfrom DAI-NAM land during the period of the LE Dynasty (1428-1789) in Vietnam. That was a long period of war, martial artfighting, applications of new strategies of war, court intrigues,

manipulations, that cost the life of thousands of Trang-Si elite, theVietnamese warriors. Many great masters of martial arts werekilled. During that period, numerous valuable war strategies wereinvented and later ignored by many professional historians.

Upon the advice of her martial art master she went to Vietnam, thecurrent name of DAI-NAM, to find the way back into the history ofthis legendary land. Fortunately she knew well about ResearchMethodology that helped dig deep in the History of Vietnam, shealso knew the secret of learning foreign language fast.

Her discoveries of the history, the life, the techniques, and thespirit of Great Warriors through Vietnamese tales, which sometimescontradict official books of History, surprised her a great deal. Atthe last moment, her life changed when she discovered anunexpected document a few hours before she left Vietnam.

Back to the U.S.A. she decided to write her report as a historicalfiction: TALES OF GREAT WARRIORS FROM DAI NAM LAND.Remembering the teaching of her master, she thought what peoplelearn from History often mingles with hidden myths and fictions,written by those who hold the power in order to better serve theirown aims whether it is noble or vicious. A good historical fictionstory is better than a wrong historical account.

Molto tempo fa , durante il regno del re Kinh Dng Vng, il regnodi Xch Qu era una striscia di terra sconosciuta con le montagnealle sue spalle e di fronte al mare.

Il re Kinh Dng che aveva sposato la figlia di ng nh Qun,sovrano del lago ng nh. Avevano un figlio, Lc Long Qun.A causa delle origini di sua madre, si pensava che discendesse daidraghi.

Lc Long Qun era forte e intelligente. Inoltre aveva una forteattrazione per gli oceani.Aveva anche poteri straordinari. Un giorno che era nella regione diLc Vit, uccise un mostro marino che terrorizzava la popolazione.Gli tagli il corpo in tre pezzi e li gett in tre luoghi diversi.La testa divent una montagna di nome Cu Du Sn, il tronco Cuu Thy et la coda Bac Long Vy.

Lc Long Qun uccise anche due mostri in altre due regioni, uno nelLong Bin e laltro nel Phong Chu.Decise di rimanere nel Phong Chu per proteggere il suo popolo, gliinsegn come cucinare il riso e tagliare gli alberi per fare dellecase. Lc Long Qun poi ritorn da sua madre.

Poco dopo , il re Lai invase Lc Vit portando con se sua figliau C. Il popolo chiam Lc Long Qun alla riscossa, ma in assenzadi Lai, vide solo u C. Si innamorarono ed andarono a vivereinsieme.

Al suo ritorno, Lai, furioso volle opporsi al loro amore e vollecombattere Lc Long Qun. Per Lc Long Qun era troppo potentee Lai part , lasciando la figlia a Lc Long Qun.

u C partor una tasca di 100 uova che diventarono 100 maschirobusti e belli come loro padre. Per la coppia non era felice perchLc Long Qun avrebbe dovuto vivere vicino al mare ed u C inmontagna. Si separarono quindi e ciascuno prese con se 50bambini.

Quelli che avevano seguito u C sono gli antenati dei popoli dellemontagne ed altopiani Invece fra quelli che avevano seguito ilpadre, il primogenito divenne il primo re del Vietnam e prese ilnome di Hng Vng e chiam il suo paese Vn Lang.

I vietnamiti sono spesso chiamati figli del drago e della fata inriferimento alla leggenda che una sorta di orgoglio e di legametra i loro.

THE LEGEND OF LAC LONG QUN

Shortly after the creation of the earth and the sky, people settled inthe deltas of the Hong Ha river in northern Vietnam. Then as now,most people lived by fishing and harvesting rice. They called theirland Lac Viet.

One day, a god by the name of Lac Long Quan appeared in thecountry of Lac Viet. His father, King Duong Vuong, was amountain god and his mother, Ho Dong Dinh, was a watergoddess. Not only was Ho Dong Dinh a powerful goddess, she alsohad the ability to transform herself into a sea dragon. Her son hadinherited these magical powers.

One day, as Lac Long Quan wandered through the land of Lac Viet,he felt a dark shadow fall across the sun. He looked up to see amonstrous black bird. As Lac Long Quan watched, this DemonBird swooped down and seized a fragile white crane, which hadbeen resting nearby. Lac Long Quan grabbed a rock and hurled it atthe Demon Bird, causing it to lose its grip on the crane. But theDemon Bird soon recovered and, furious, turned to attack Lac LongQuan.The Demon Bird transformed itself into a giant tiger and pouncedon the young god. The fight was bitter, but eventually, Lac LongQuan gained the upper hand. After killing the ferocious beast he setoff in search of the injured crane.

The crane was stunned but not badly hurt. As Lac Long Quan drewnear, it awoke, and in a flutter of white feathers, was transformedinto its true formthat of a beautiful fairy named Au Co. LacLong Quan was stunned by the young womans beauty. "Will yoube my wife?" he stammered.Au Co agreed and they were married. In the middle of a lushgarden, inhabited by many species of animals, they built a stilthouse. Their happiness was complete when, a year later, Au Co

gave birth. She did not bear a child, but rather a golden pouch,which looked like a giant flower and contained one hundred eggs.Each egg hatched to reveal a perfect baby boy.Not only were the babies exceptionally beautiful, but they grewmuch faster than normal children. Within a few years, Au Co andLac Long Quans magical sons had grown into brave and gentleyoung men.

Despite her beautiful children, Au Co was not entirely happy. As theson of a water goddess, Lac Long Quan preferred to liveunderwater. This watery environment did not suit his wife, whospent most of her time on land. Separated from her husband forlong periods, Au Co grew lonely and homesick. She began to dreamof her lofty, native land.

"I miss the mountains of my birth", sighed Au Co. Lac Long Quanlooked at his wife sadly. Finally, he reached a decision. "I am a seadragon by nature," he said. "You, my wife, are a mountain fairy.Our habits and needs are different and we must live apart. It isdifficult, but at least we have had our time together."

Then he turned to their children. "Half of you" said the king, "willaccompany your mother to the mountains and half of you will livebeside the sea with me. If either group should ever face gravedanger, the other group will come to their aid."So it was that fifty sons followed Au Co into the mountains, wherethey grew corn and rice. The other group followed Lac Long Quanto the coast. They lived by fishing. Only in times of grave dangerwould they meet.

These two groups were ancestors of the Hung kings who foundedthe country Au Lac in the area that is now Vietnam.Today, everyone in Vietnam knows this story. Everyone remembersthat the people of Vietnam are descended from Lac Long Quan andAu Co, a sea dragon and a mountain fairy.
