The film, the video and the TV are indeed verypowerful. According to Dale (1969) says, they

can:

Transmit a wide range of audio- visualmaterials, including still pictures, film, objects,specimen and drama.

Bring models of excellence to the viewer- wecan see and hear the excellent scientist likeJohn Glenn, the excellent speakers and masterteachers who lecture and demonstrate a

teaching method for professional developmentof teachers.





Provide as with sounds and sights not easilyavailable even to the viewer of a real event through

long shots, close ups, zoom shots, magnification andsplit screen made possible by the TV and camera.

Can give opportunity to teachers to view

themselves while they teach for purposes of self-improvement.

Cab be both instructive and enjoyable.





The small screen size puts television at adisadvantage when compared with the possiblesize of projected motion pictures.

Television and film are one-way

communication device consequently, theyencourage passitivity.



Excessive TV viewing works against thedevelopment of the child¶s ability to visualize

and to be creative and imaginative, skills thatare needed in problem solving.

There is much violence in TV. This is theirrefutable conclusion, ³viewing violenceincrease violence .́





For enrichment of the lesson with the

use of TV, we have to do thefollowing:

Prepare the classroom

Darken the room

The students shouldnot be seated too near

nor too far from theTV.



Pre-viewing Activities

Set goals and expectations.

Link the TV lesson with pastlesson and/ or with yourstudents¶ experience forintegration and relevance.

Set the rules whileviewing.

Put the film in context.

Point out the key pointsthey need to focus on.



Viewing

Don¶t interrupt viewing byinserting cautions andannouncement you forgot to give

during the pre-viewing stage.

Just make sure sights andsounds are clear.



Post-viewing

To make them feel at ease begin byasking a questions.

go to the questions you raised at the pre-viewing stage.

Tackle questions raised by students at theinitial stage of the post-viewing discussion.

Ask what the students learned. Find out

how they can apply what they learned.

Summarize what was learned.
