Well done!
TERM INVOICES
The Term Two invoices went home to parents last
week which outlined the costs of the different
activities planned for the term. The explanation
attached to the invoice provides a brief overview of
the costs and what they cover.
The payment of invoices by parents helps to provide
children with a range of learning opportunities and
ensures that we can provide a rich range of resources
to support learning programs.
The prompt payment of invoices would be greatly
appreciated.
WRITER’S CORNER
Improving students’ writing ability has been a specific
school focus for the past few years.
All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are taught
the ‘Seven Steps to Writing Success’ program.
This structured and explicit approach to teaching
writing provides students with specific strategies for
being able to plan, compose and edit a quality
piece of written work.
By adopting a whole-school approach, the plan is
that all staff and students have a consistent
framework and language across all grades.
At the end of last week, I had the pleasure to read

NAPLAN – YEARS 3 AND 5
Students in Years 3 and 5 are currently participating in
the National Assessment Program – Literacy and
Numeracy (NAPLAN).
These tests assess the sorts of skills that are essential for
every child to progress through school and life.
Other than the Year 3 writing assessment, all other
tests will be conducted using the online platform.
A report on your child’s progress is returned later in
the year.
WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY
This Friday is Walk Safely to School
day where children are encouraged
to walk and commute safely to
school.
Some of the Walk Safely to School Day objectives are:
To encourage parents and carers to walk to school
with primary school age children and reinforce
safe pedestrian behaviour.
To promote the health benefits of walking and
help create regular walking habits at an early age.
To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an
adult's hand when crossing the road.
To help children develop the vital road-crossing
skills they will need as they become mature
pedestrians.
Many students walk to school each day and
tomorrow is an opportunity to get some morning
exercise and remind children about safe pedestrian
behaviours.
Walking is a great way to exercise and an activity
that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family so why
not step out and enjoy the morning sunshine and
walk to school tomorrow.

the outstanding pieces of work from students in 3B.
These young writers wrote short pieces of text on
nature which linked to their literature unit.
Please see their writing below.
MOUNTAIN
I am the mountain. I am earth’s longest standing
temple. I produce water for you from my glaciers
and streams. The closer you climb, the closer you will
be to your master. I can see you from above. The
things you’ve done to nature. The things you took
from me. You took it without saying thank you. I can
destroy myself but I can also destroy you. You leave
my woods in misery. You will pay for what you’ve
done to me. I can tell you one thing, you are on the
edge of falling off my cliff. Nature doesn’t need
people. People need nature.
By Ethan
OCEAN
I am the ocean. I give - you take. I give you
everything, you give me nothing. I covered this earth
once and I can cover it again. Every raindrop, every
stream is me. Nothing can live without me. People
poison me. I can flood you. I am the world. Everyone
needs me. You are nothing without me. I built this
world. I am everything to you. This is not your planet it
never was and it never will be. Every living thing
started with me. Nature doesn’t need people.
People need nature.
By Mateja
MOUNTAIN
I am the mountain. The sun melts my ice into water. I
can see you from up here. The greed. The pollution.
You’re playing your own game and you’re treating
earth…well sadly like ASH! I give fresh water, you
take and pollute. I can take it all back with one big
ball of snow. I try to calm my forests, but you just
destroy them. This is not only your planet, it will never
be, and we (nature) shall prove it. Nature doesn’t
need people, but people need nature….then why
do you destroy nature?
By Scarlet
FLOWERS
I am a flower. My colours are blinding. I am life.
Everything began with me. You wear me in colourful
patterns. You need me. I give seeds of life. I am
beautiful and majestic. I bloom in the brightest
colours. I inspire artists with my colours. I am known
for my beauty. I can feel your pain. I am a symbol of
love. Nature doesn’t need people. People need
nature.

SIBLINGS STARTING SCHOOL IN 2020
It is now time to start the enrolment process for our
new kindergarten students for 2020. We would
greatly appreciate it if you have a child starting at
NNPS next year to provide details to the school
office.
Thank you to those families who have already
provided these details. Sibling enrolment forms will be
sent home later in the term.

VISIT TO WESTMEAD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
On Monday this week I had the pleasure of travelling
with Allan Holliday and the following students
Jackson, Mali, Zavier and Flynn to Westmead
Children’s Hospital. We presented on behalf of
Narrabeen North School the money raised from our
annual Shave and Colour Day in remembrance of
Jasmin Holliday. As a school community we raised
$26,355.25 which was a phenomenal effort.
Jackson, a current student at Narrabeen Sports High
and a former student of Narrabeen North presented
a cheque for $23,000. Jackson has raised this money
over the past 2 years with his Christmas light display in
memory of his mother Rebecca.
I am so proud of the generosity of our community
and the selflessness of our students. Flynn, Mali and
Zavier were worthy ambassadors of our school.
