The Maltese Falcon Hedda Gabler A Midsummer Night’s Dream Cyrano de Bergerac Once upon a Midnight The Canterville Ghost

Celebrating 20 years of Nash Theatre
By William Shakespeare “The course of true love never did run smooth,”
…as four young lovers discover as they negotiate ‘that bumpy road to love’ through a forest, where fairies weave their magic and a group of would-be amateur actors stumble around in the dark. The road proves to be full of potholes - spells that go wrong with hilarious results, misplaced affection, fights and feuds – until the final curtain, when all’s well that ends well (but that’s another story!).
Directed by Gilly Graham, this production features Brogan Amos, David Bentley, Chris Carroll, Taryn Crispin, Elliott Giarola, Sophie Goto, Catherine Howell, Brendan James, Madelle Niemann, Ainsley Pavey, Franciska Schmoll, Sandy Sharma, Chris Vaag and Wesley van Gelderen.
So come along and revisit an old favourite or, if you are lucky enough to be seeing it for the first time, find out just why this ‘Dream’ has remained a favourite of so many for so long.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
A Note from the President We’ve had a busy month at Nash and it’s not over yet! Gilly Graham took over as director of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the enthusiastic cast have been working hard for her and for her stage manager, Phil Carney, while she has had a
health problem to deal with in the last couple of weeks. The auditions attracted lots of new, young actors, which is wonderful news. We also have new blood backstage. Gary Kliger then took over the direction of Cyrano de Bergerac and has been holding auditions. This looks like being a marvellously swashbuckling production with lots of swords and feathers! David Bentley has taken on the organisation of our Month of Sundays, which goes on in August. All systems go! In the middle of all this activity we had our 20th anniversary celebrations. It was great to catch up with people we had not seen for a long time and we hope that at least some of them will stay around and be part of Nash Theatre again. We are halfway through 2014 and the time has come to start thinking about 2015. If you are interested in directing, assistant directing or just interested send me your thoughts. What kind of programme should we be producing next year? Do you have any plays to recommend? How can we get bums on seats? I’d love your input and when you’ve given me your ideas we’ll have a meeting to discuss them and come up with a brilliant programme of plays for 2015. We’ll also be looking for playwrights, designers, actors, artists, organisers, social media addicts and anybody who would like to be involved in a new, energetic and exciting year for New Farm Nash Theatre!

Call out for Front of House and Bar staff…
How would you like a FREE ticket to see our upcoming production – A Midsummer Night’s Dream? Here’s how you can. We need Front of House and Bar staff for all our shows this year.
What’s involved? Read on…
Front of House staff assist in the set-up of the box office, greet patrons, sell tickets, programs and raffle tickets. For less than an hour’s work, you get a FREE ticket to see the show on a night of your choice – even the night you do the Front of House! Bar staff assist in the set-up and operation of the bar (serving patrons, making tea and coffee, pouring wine, selling chocolates, crisps and cake) before the show and during the interval. While your time commitment is around the same as Front of House, your duties are spread out over the night. And for your efforts, a FREE ticket to see the show on a night of your choice.
Contact Brian White directly at [email protected] or via the Nash email or phone if you can offer your services for a night.

Celebration! Nash Theatre
20th
Anniversary party
The 20th Anniversary celebration was a wonderful chance to catch up with some of the people who have been involved with Nash over the years. The founder of Nash, Godfrey Bathurst (pictured far left with Brenda) was a very welcome guest. We’ve come a long way since the Rosalie days, but we are still going strong. With memorabilia to peruse – can you imagine how many posters alone we have amassed over time! – much reminiscence was inevitable. And enjoyable.
7 compelling reasons why you really should be buying tickets for shows at Nash Theatre:
1. Plenty of free, street parking nearby. A welcoming, carpeted theatre with comfortable seats and year-round climate control.
2. Mental stimulation is good for us. Fact. So, just looking at the current season, experiencing drama by Wilde, Ibsen, and Shakespeare has to be good for us, right? And we have the joys of Cyrano de Bergerac (aka the bloke with the big nose) and Edgar Allan Poe to look forward to later in the season.
3. We embrace the classics, hence our annual Shakespeare. Wonderful for bringing the Bard’s plays alive for students and those of us who appreciate the finer things in life. And Nash was doing this before everyone else in Brisbane jumped on the bandwagon! Fact.
4. An attractive courtyard where you can enjoy very reasonably priced drinks / snacks either pre-show, during the interval, or after the show.
5. Close proximity to the Merthyr Road dining precinct for dinner prior to the show. Meet up with friends, have a delicious meal, and round out the evening with a live show.
6. Well priced tickets. With the possibility of even cheaper tickets: season tickets, occasional last-minute deals and ‘early bird specials’!
7. Excellent facilities for the disabled: fully wheelchair accessible; sight-impaired patrons can bring a companion for free.
Booking at Nash Theatre is so easy these days: online via www.trybooking.com
by phone or by email. Be compelled and book now! See you at the theatre…

Or we're simply not listening to each other?
