God calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves; the one who is weak and the one who is strong, the one who is happy and the one who is sad,

the one whom we understand and the one we don’t, the one who is embraced and the one who is shunned,

the one who is like us and the one who is different. We come, trusting God’s abundant love!

Let us worship God! *Invocation *The Lord's Prayer Welcome and News of the Church Graduate Recognition *Unison Reading:

*Gloria Patri: (#36 in hymnal)

GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others...Be yourself... Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world... --Desiderata, by Max Ehrmann © 1927

We thank you for worshipping with us. Following the life and teachings of Jesus, we are a church that strives to be a place of grace, welcoming all regardless of theological

expression, age, race, gender, sexual identity, national origin or financial means. In our Church Constitution we recognize that “each member shall have the undisturbed right to

follow the word of God according to the dictates of his or her own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.” The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, established in 1665, cherishes this proud Pilgrim tradition. We are honored by your presence among us, and we

invite you to help us become what we endeavor to be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This morning we welcome to our pulpit David Fitzpatrick. David is a writer and author of the memoir “Sharp”, and is the brother of Laura Fitzpatrick-Nager.

He and his wife, Amy Holmes, live Rockfalls, Connecticut. They are advocates in the mental health community.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The memorial flowers this morning are given by Becky and Ted Crosby
in loving memory of Mr. & Mrs. Sumner McKnight Crosby, parents of Ted ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The deacon on duty is Deb Heminway. The hosts for Fellowship hour are the Nocera/Long/Kratzert Family.
Childcare is available every Sunday morning in the nursery downstairs at the 10 AM service. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are visiting us for worship this morning, we welcome you, and invite you to join us outside (weather permitting) for fellowship and refreshments.
We invite you to pick up a “Welcome” packet, which can be found in the vestibule. We hope this information will be helpful in acquainting you with
our church and its activities and programs. Quiet Activity Bags for young children are in the vestibule.
They are colorful bags with quiet projects for our youngest members. Please feel free to offer these bags to your children.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Rev. David W. Good serves as our Minister Emeritus.

The Rev. Rebecca T. Crosby is our Minister for Haitian Outreach. Rebecca A. Francisco, a recent graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary,

serves as minister to the South Lyme Union Chapel.

Large print versions of the bulletin are available from the ushers.
